Idolatry Turns From Cash To CovidAs most states lift mask requirements for conducting everyday life, there are still millions of people succumbing to the press' pressurizing headlines conveying fear of a virus that has been proven to have a 98% recovery rate. They are unwilling to remove their masks even while driving alone in their cars, so terrorized have they become of a 1.5 micron virion that most masks cannot guard against. Within a matter of months, people have allowed themselves to give up normal life to hunker down behind barriers of plexiglass, woven cotton and their front doors, acceding power to a virus that can't survive a good handwashing with soap and water. They've traded in their old god for their new god of disease.

The worship of Covid-19

The worship of Covid-19 has become so pervasive that thousands of people have been posting "prayers" that the virus kills President Trump. Like every other idol – good old cash is a prime example – the non-sentient article, whether a dead piece of paper or a brainless cell, has no power of its own. It can't control where it goes, who delivers or receives it let alone answer a "prayer" to attack someone and cause their death. Money, like a bacterium or virus, has no conscious ability to do anything on its own. These are idols that individuals somehow believe have an ability to do the bidding of the wishful thinker. It's possible that those who are sending up prayers for the demise of this nation and our duly elected president, think they are praying to an entity that can bring their vile thoughts to pass, yet they are vocal in denying the existence of God. Here's the rub… if God doesn't exist then how can there be a force called Satan, Lucifer, or known by some other name that would be able to answer such a prayer? How did this "god" come into being? Generally recognized to be a fallen angel, from where did this entity fall if there is no heaven and there is no God who created heaven in the first place? Breaking the logic down to its simple base, the conclusion is that someone can pray all they want. However, if they're praying to an entity they believe is non-existent, which they would be if they deny God, or think they can bypass Him and go to an entity that was servant to and cast out by a non-existent one, then they have a serious glitch in their reasoning.

There can be no faith if there's no love, so if there's no faith then the prayers, however fervently offered up, are fruitless

Idols have no power of their own except to make people, who believe they do, miserable by consistent disappointment when their idol doesn't perform as expected, which, being powerless, it can't on its own. Idols like money or a virus can only be manipulated by a physical handler. It hasn't the ability to consciously target anything or anyone. But it can become the focus of an individual's thoughts where their happiness is tied to whatever happens with that idol and, in the case of the coronavirus, or China virus, it has been imbued with untold power by the media and political medicine to kill millions, which has been proven to be untrue. The final word on idols versus God is that people can pray to whatever they want but they can't expect an idol to answer their prayer. Nor can they expect an answer from God if they don't believe in Him. Prayers can only be answered by faith and faith is rooted in love (Ephesians 3). What is God, if not love (1 John 4:8)? There can be no faith if there's no love, so if there's no faith (except that in powerless, loveless idols) then the prayers, however fervently offered up, are fruitless. 1 John 5:21 "Little children, keep yourselves from idols." That includes the biggest idol of 2020 – Covid-19. Oh, and by the way, prayers said faithfully knowing and acknowledging God in all His power and glory, such as those supplications offered in forgiveness, love and in accordance with His will for the healing of our nation and President Trump, are heard and answered.
