Is The Republican Party Worth Saving?

Is The Republican Party Worth Saving? Is the legacy American Republican Party worth saving? As much as I have always respected President Trump and the results he produced in his too short a time in office and appreciated his efforts to hold the Republican Party together, I fear it is a fool’s errand. The Deep State establishment Republicans like Liz Cheney, Megan McCain, and behind the scenes, far too many of the Republican leaders, fought too many of the programs President Trump tried to implement.

Grand Old Party must acknowledge that career, lifetime holders of elected office is, by its nature, corrupt beyond redemption

From my perspective, there is only one way the legacy Republican Party can redeem itself. Patriotic American Republican politicians need to take a stand and recognize that politics as usual is no longer working. The Grand Old Party must acknowledge that career, lifetime holders of elected office is, by its nature, corrupt beyond redemption. These men and women must “man up”, “woman up" and admit this system is critically damaging America. To perpetuate such a system is nothing less than criminal. In their writings, the Founding Fathers clearly indicated that elected officials were to serve for a limited period of time and then return to their communities to become productive citizens again. Lifetime career politician have proven counterproductive.
Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide. ~ John Adams
The Founding Fathers recognized human nature and the fact that power corrupts. In America today, we are living with an unprecedented level of corruption in our federal government in both the Legislative and the Executive Branches, including the career Civil Service, and Military elements of the Executive Branch. Today Americans are living in real time the reality that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
"However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion." ~ George Washington

Term limits for all federal elected officials

If the Republican Party is to demonstrate it is worth saving, they must lead the charge to establish term limits for all federal elected officials. I suggest a single two-year term for the House, a single six-year term for Senate, and a single eight-year term for President. This would be a start to cleaning up the corruption in government. If we can get this done, then other work would come after. It would also give us elected representatives that would not be distracted by trying to get re-elected. Then they can focus totally on the job they were sent to do.
"Occupants of public offices love power and are prone to abuse it." ~ George Washington
If the Republican Party isn’t willing to acknowledge the damage being done by today’s system, and are not patriotic enough to pick up this banner and get the job done, the Republican Party is simply not worth saving. If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. It is time to go in a totally new direction. I hope the Republican establishment loves America enough to make the hard choices that have to be made. I also hope there are a few patriotic Democrats out there that also see the corruption and love the America of our Founding Fathers enough to join Republicans in this effort. With God’s help, it can be done.
"The issue today is the same as it has been throughout all history, whether man shall be allowed to govern himself or be ruled by a small elite." ~ Thomas Jefferson
