Strict discipline in Schools, caning

It all comes down to discipline

The Sunday Times of London did a piece last week about parents in the U.K. of African descent that send their children to Ghana to go to school. The schools in the West African country have something that schools in Britain and in fact in the West do not have--discipline. The parents resort to sending their kids abroad in order to keep them out of the gang culture that seems to be increasing in major urban areas.

Some of these students were interviewed for the article and admitted that the strict discipline that they receive in Ghanaian schools kept them on the straight and narrow and allowed them to escape the temptation of truancy and gangs. The parents also believe that their children are getting a better education in Africa than they would have obtained had they remained in the U.K. Oswald Amoo Gottfried, the founder and director of the Faith Montessori boarding school in Ghana's capital of Accra is quoted as saying that he believes in caning.
