The entertainment industry is turning into a toxic environment

Jumping the Shark

Jumping the Shark
Once upon a time there was a television show called Happy Days. Around mid-life of the series they did an episode called Jumping the Shark. It was a ridiculous premise where one of the main characters, The Fonz, wearing a leather jacket, did a water ski jump over a caged shark. This was a low point in the series, but it spawned the term “jumping the shark.” It is a pejorative phrase suggesting a lack of creativity, the inability to create something meaningful, or overreaching for political agenda purposes.

Television's and Movie's Woke Programming

In 2022, the television and movie industry is jumping the shark by abandoning good entertainment practices and creating woke programing and movies to appeal and prove to 5% of the American population how open minded they are. The entertainment industry is sacrificing investor profits to try to push the liberal progressive political agenda. Woke movies are failing at the box office because the majority of Americans don’t want the aberrant behaviors jammed down their throats when they simply want to be entertained. The majority of Americans especially don’t want the aberrant behavior of the 5% exposed to their children disguised as entertainment. The majority of Americans don’t give a rip about what consenting adults do in their bedroom, but they don’t want those behaviors forced on them or their children. Most of all, the majority of Americans won’t accept the effort by the Marxist, liberal, progressives trying to normalize these aberrant behaviors. These are aberrant behaviors in the eyes of most Americans. I have recently made the choice to write off new versions of a couple of my favorite television franchises. As a longtime fan of the NCIS franchise, I find the NCIS Hawai’i version has jumped the shark. It is way too woke by trying to normalize the gay female couple in a way that adds nothing to the story line. No other version of the NCIS franchise has ever focused that much on any character’s sexual relationship. Yup, jumping the shark! Likewise, the new version of Law & Order is adding all different kinds of social issues in a manner that doesn’t add to the story line. Historically, these programs often focused on a particular social issue that worked well in the story. The new version has added racial issues where there is no need. For me it detracts from the story line and is just bad story telling. When the goal is to be everything to everybody, you wind up being nothing. Yes, the new Law & Order is jumping the shark too! The entertainment industry is turning into a toxic environment if a person does not wish to be brain washed with someone else’s political agenda. When agenda becomes more important than profits, you have an industry in decline. Thank goodness there are entertainment options. I have chosen to change the channel, and I’m now extremely choosy before I go to the movie theater.
