June 14th and Foundations of Freedom

Flag Day in the United States is the celebration of the birthday of the Stars and Stripes. The holiday falls on June 14th, yet for most Americans, Flag Day is not on their radar like the celebration of Memorial Day or Independence Day. Sadly, many Americans may not even realize Flag Day exists, and would not take much time to even reflect on the deeper meaning of the U.S. flag. Yet, there may be many more who fail to realize that prior to the creation of the flag, a formal foundation for the existence of the United States also came on June 14th -- two years before any Betsy Ross moment. June 14, 1775, is also considered the birthday of the U.S. Army, two years before the Stars and Stripes came into existence, yet 12 years before the United States of America became officially recognized within the community of nations. The chronology may pass with little notice, but it is important. There was no legitimate United States of America for there to be a “U.S.” Army in 1775. This so-called "army" became known as the Continental Army, but it was really not understood as such in that time. However, the assemblage of various colonial militias could be referred to as a genuine band of freedom fighters because freedom was the focus of their daring defense of their right to be respected as a free people.
The Army of Freedom was born on June 14, 1775, as John Adams made a formal motion to his fellow delegates in the Continental Congress to recognize the appeal of the Massachusetts Provincial Congress, which essentially had sent an urgent appeal to avoid a disaster if the British troops would manage to break out of Boston and “spread desolation as far as they could go.” Adams proposed on that day that Congress take charge of the band of amateur troops from various surrounding colonies that had flooded into Massachusetts after the deadly skirmishes at Lexington and Concord. More importantly, Adams proposed that the delegates approve his proposal to appoint someone to be a commanding general to take charge of those "troops." Some of what Adams recommended has been recorded with regard to who should lead such a “Continental Army” and he proclaimed that he “had but one Gentleman in… mind for that important command, and that was a Gentleman from Virginia who was among Us… a Gentleman whose Skill and Experience as an Officer, whose independent fortune, great Talents and excellent universal Character, would command the Approbation of all of America, and unite the cordial Exertions of all the Colonies better than any other person in the Union.” After Adams finished his proposal, Colonel George Washington willingly accepted his nomination to “that important command” as chosen by his peers to lead the newly adopted “Continental Army.” Congress subsequently decided on Adams’ proposal by voting to affirm his two resolutions. Thus, less than two months after shots were fired at Lexington and Concord, the Second Continental Congress formally adopted the rag-tag band of men and boys who had the audacity to stir up such a great amount of trouble when they shot at the King’s troops. The United States Army was born and a Commander-in-Chief was appointed.

Thus, an army was formally established, and the War for Independence began before a formal declaration of war was proclaimed. And, an official flag was created before the nation came to be. One with any sense of curiosity would have to ask, “For what nation were these freedom fighters willing to risk their careers, their security, and their very lives?” Recently, on Memorial Day, U.S. citizens honored those who gave their lives for their country – or sacrificed themselves to preserve freedom for others. Yet, the huge risk that the men and boys took in 1775 was not for any nation, but for the concept of living in freedom – a dream of a Land of the Free. How much more do those souls of the founding generation deserve genuine respect? Americans today, many without realizing it, face circumstances eerily similar to those that led to the birth of the United States of America – a land in which only the seeds of freedom were planted. In 1775, Americans were actually British citizens, and yet they yearned to be more than just British citizens – they yearned for the freedoms they were willing to sacrifice their lives for – the foundational freedoms most citizens enjoy today. In 1775, the people’s own government under the powerful, yet tempered, constitutional monarchy in Great Britain demonstrated very little regard for the colonist's thought or genuine concerns of well-being. There was no freedom of the press, as “political correctness” was ordained from the crown and the ruling elite. Yet in that day, brave souls dared to defy the royal authority and communicated with one another by alternate means. Politically motivated government elitists had genuine disdain, if not openly expressed hatred toward the common colonial citizens. The laws passed by the Parliament were often one-sided, onerous, and “intolerable.”

In 2017 in America, a wealthy (and criminal) elite that have ruled in the name of being Americans

In 2017 in America, a wealthy (and criminal) elite that have ruled in the name of being Americans, like the British aristocracy in the latter part of the 1700s who sought primarily to control and take advantage of the common people, are being exposed by brave souls with common sense who dare to challenge the mighty mainstream media moguls who are a part that ruling elite. This ruling elite, no matter how it is identified, are being viewed for what they really represent. Sadly, America seems to have devolved into an oligarchy of wealthy elitists who can control with cash - and running the country had become business as usual for such oligarchs. Those with common sense views are labeled as “deplorables” by both Democrats and Establishment Republicans alike, in hopes of marginalizing them and dividing the public sentiment. The 2016 presidential election exposed much of the sham that poses as a real difference between the Democrat Party and the GOP. The true intent of either Party it seems is to promote the outward appearance of a Democratic Republic while maintaining control over the people one way or another. The latest Comey testimony before Congress indicates how much he has been and remains a tool of the Democrat Party, and few Republican leaders would be willing to charge Comey with obstruction of justice several times over the course of his indebtedness to his Democrat puppet masters. In 2017, the Trump revolution involves a war of words and ideas that tests the very fabric of America as a free Republic. In 2017, the war that is being waged at this time is one of truth vs. propaganda, and it is exemplified in the war of words between the bought-and-paid-for media pawns and genuine citizen journalism originating from people who write out of compassion and true concern for the conservation of the values at the bedrock of the nation. Trump has become a rallying point for those who nurture these same values, and he has become a lightning rod for those who hate those values.

Donald Trump is a unique phenomenon - truly wealthy, yet one who truly loves America

Donald Trump is a unique phenomenon - truly wealthy, yet one who truly loves America. It is quite refreshing to realize that someone with great wealth cares about more than his great wealth or maintaining political power for the sake of the power itself. Trump runs counter to this desire to control the populace just as George Washington was an oddity in that he refused to be tempted by a lust for power - by refusing to become a tyrant and remaining true to a quest for a land of freedom. When George Washington took command as the general of the of that rag-tag band of men and boys near Boston on July 2, 1775, he realized that he had a tremendous amount of work in front of him. The “troops” did not resemble an army, and the assembly did not match up well to the British military. The ‘troops’ did not resemble an army because they were not a genuine army in practical form. They were a volunteer force: of farm hands and farmers, of doctors and teachers, of merchants and shop-keepers. Honestly, they did not appear to be a threat to the British military which was essentially the most disciplined, the best equipped, and the strongest force of soldiers and seamen in the world at that time.

The Trump revolution appears to be the beginning of a long process of setting America back on a correct course

When Donald Trump took office as Commander-In-Chief in 2017, he realized that he had a tremendous amount of work in front of him. The “oligarchic opposition” had insidiously entrenched itself over many years in many pockets of power. Even his own supporters were amazed, and many did not match up well to the entrenched Establishment Elite. Honestly, the “deplorables” had not appeared to be a threat. This oligarchic machine is essentially the most well-funded, the best-organized, and strongest network of government officials, media moguls, and political insiders with ties to home-grown terrorist groups that care little for freedom, unless it is their freedom to promote their personal and political power. The Trump revolution appears to be the beginning of a long process of setting America back on a correct course, just as the “Reagan Revolution” in the 1980s took the Establishment Elite by surprise, it seems as if the long trail of government abuses from the ruling aristocracy, is again curtailed for the time being, as there may be genuine headway in draining the swamp. But in this day, there has been a long trail of criminal abuses from the days of the Lyndon Johnson Administration. It continued forward with the Barack Obama Administration and the promotion of Hillary for POTUS. In 2016, the oligarchic, "good-old boy" network became unglued with the election of Donald Trump. The common people took action, but the foundations of freedom require continual regeneration and renewal.
