Kansas is considering a new law that seeks to protect the life of newborn babies in the event of a live birth during an abortion procedure. The proposed legislation, referred to as “born-alive infants protection”, would require medical staff to take all necessary steps to save the life of a newborn, should it occur during a delivery abortion. This measure has been designed to ensure that all life is valued and protected, in line with the values of the pro-life movement.

The proposal has garnered support from many Republicans who have long been opposed to abortion, but it does not actually limit the procedure itself. Rather, it seeks to address concerns about the abandonment of infants after birth during certain types of abortions, a practice that is widely disputed. This law is also in line with existing legislation on homicide and child neglect, as well as doctors’ duties, and thus is necessary to ensure the health and well-being of newborns. -- More...
