Keith Olbermann has finally found a new job ...at ESPN?

Fifteen months after his Current TV program ended with a huge lawsuit, the enormous head mind of Keith Olbermann has managed to land a new job. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Keith has inked a deal that will have him returning to ESPN - a channel he left 16 years ago when his relationship with the network devolved into what has been referred to as "a state of perpetual warfare."

Olbermann will be hosting a new nightly talk show to be broadcast each evening on ESPN2. His two-year contract begins sometime this fall, though a premier date has yet to be announced. The show will focus predominantly on sports, though Olbermann will also be discussing "pop culture" and "current events." ....and that's where things get good: According to the New York Times, Olbermann's contract contains language which specifically forbids any discussion of politics. If that's true, Olbermann's show is likely doomed from the start. How anyone is supposed to discuss current events without touching on the political realm is a mystery. That's not even Keith's fault. It seems like an impossible task. Add to that the fact that this is Keith Olbermann we're talking about, and you've got a recipe for televisual disaster. If Olbermann's career has shown us anything, it's that trying to rein-in his bombastic, foamy-mouthed political rants is like trying to put a leash on a Sharknado. It just isn't going to happen. At some point, Keith will almost assuredly come unhinged, and ESPN will be right back in the same "war" it fought nearly two decades ago. It should be lots of fun to watch.
