Et tu, Kentucky exchange?

Kentucky ObamaCare exchange forces Rand Paul's son into Medicaid

As we're sure you're aware, Democrats say that signing up for ObamaCare is your civic as well as your "patriotic" duty. Heck, the left even claims that they've conferred with the man upstairs and they can promise you that God wants you to do it. If you're going to "enroll" (whatever that means this week), they'll tell you that there's no better way to register than via Kentucky's state-run exchange.
In case you haven't heard, the Bluegrass State's exchange is the very model of perfection. Sure, with the exception of New York and California virtually ALL of the exchanges are a disaster, but not Kentucky. No siree. Kentucky got it right. Whether you're a millionaire buying a top tier plan, or you're at the bottom of the economic food chain purchasing an ugly little bronze plan, Kentucky has you covered. In fact, the left likes to point out that it's working so well that no one in the state is even complaining. Everyone, they say, just adores it. There hasn't been even one high profile problem. After all, you can botch the enrollment of "the common people" and no one will notice, but shaft someone in a position of power or notoriety and, well, that would be embarrassing.

Uh-oh. Yesterday, Senator Rand Paul appeared on This Week with George Stephanoupolis. The host asked the Senator if he had been able to enroll, and referenced the fact that Paul doesn't quite know if he's actually managed to get insurance or not. In the Senator's hand was his son's brand new Medicaid card.
"At this point I'm unsure, and the other day I actually tried to get my son signed up through the Kentucky exchange -you know, that the Democrats have said is so good? And I have here my son's Medicaid card. We didn’t try to get him Medicaid; I’m trying to pay for his insurance. But they automatically enrolled him in Medicaid. For a month they wouldn’t talk to him because they said they weren’t sure he existed. He had to go down to the welfare office, prove his existence, then next thing we know, we get a Medicaid card. So, really, most of the people in Kentucky are being automatically enrolled in Medicaid. I'm trying to pay for insurance and can't pay for it, and I'm uncertain now - whether I'm enrolled in DC and/or Kentucky. And, it's a mess. I keep getting an error code every time I go in. It will not let me edit my policy to try to make sure my family is covered.”
Paul summed it up, saying "This is an unfolding disaster that I don't think gets better any time soon." So congratulations, Kentucky exchange! You've managed to enroll at least one member of Senator Rand Paul's family - albeit in something for which he probably doesn't qualify.
