Leftist Hochul Wrongly Vilifies Companies That Serve New York

Very recently, Kathy Hochul gave a speech that totally misrepresented crime on the subways in New York. She was trying to trumpet phony numbers to make her horrendous policies look good. A few days later, an illegal immigrant that the city embraces set an innocent American citizen on fire, totally destroying her fake narrative.

Hochul, who, like all radicals, embraces the climate change hoax, has decided to punish the citizens of the state by signing a controversial law that will force oil, natural gas, and coal companies to pay a staggering $75 billion to the state for carbon emissions that allegedly contributed to climate change between the years of 2000 and 2024.

The law, named the Climate Change Superfund Act, will require companies to pay $3 billion a year for the next 25 years. The money will be used to develop new infrastructure designed to withstand the effects of increased flooding and extreme weather, which some attribute to climate change. Additionally, the money will cover repairs for damage caused by severe weather events.

Hochul is making legitimate companies pay for damage caused by weather, which is beyond everyone's control. This demonstrates the madness of the left: punishing the innocent over a supposed hoax.

Hochul released a statement trying to justify this ridiculous law:

“With nearly every record rainfall, heat wave, and coastal storm, New Yorkers are increasingly burdened with billions of dollars in health, safety, and environmental consequences due to polluters that have historically harmed our environment.”

“Establishing the Climate Superfund is the latest example of my administration taking action to hold polluters responsible for the damage done to our environment and requiring major investments in infrastructure and other projects critical to protecting our communities and economy.”

A New York state senator, Liz Krueger, praised the new law, stating that the state:

“Has fired a shot that will be heard around the world. The companies most responsible for the climate crisis will be held accountable.”

Of course, fossil fuel groups have no intention of accepting this lying down. The American Petroleum Institute reacted by stating:

“This “represents nothing more than a punitive new fee on American energy, and we are evaluating our options moving forward.”

The Business Council of New York State and over 30 other business organizations urged Hochul to veto the bill earlier this month. These groups argued that the legislation targets sellers of fossil fuels while neglecting to address users as contributors to emissions. They also stated that the law would likely face a lengthy and expensive legal challenge.

“This legislation is bad public policy that raises significant implementation questions and constitutional concerns. Moreover, its $75 billion price tag will result in unintended consequences and increased costs for households and businesses.”

“We also note this measure would come on the heels of the reinstatement of congestion pricing in New York City and in advance of the Environmental Department’s pending `cap and invest’ rule, which combined will also impose billions of dollars in new assessments on fossil fuel usage, impacting a wide range of consumers.”

A former state energy utility regulator doubted the law's ability to survive a legal challenge.

“The companies are expected to receive a favorable response in federal court,” said former state Public Service Commission chairman John Howard. He also contemplated how New York would obtain funds from foreign-based companies, such as Saudi Aramco or Russia’s Lukoil.

The law can’t take effect immediately, as officials must create a system to identify the largest emitters and notify them of their payment obligations.

Labeling essential industries as "polluters" should be viewed as defamation. In the pursuit of this false narrative, both taxpayers and businesses will suffer due to higher rates. The legal challenges that are certain to emerge will also be funded by taxpayers. Investments in these industries may shift to other states, leading to the loss of countless jobs in that sector.

I have said all along that this lie is being manifested to create the greatest transference of wealth in history. This is about creating new regulations and departments to police them. By doing so, the size of the government will drastically increase, as will its power and control over citizens. Money will be laundered, and the rich will get richer on the backs of hard-working people.

This is the reason why radical leftist Democrats should never be elected. A lesson that New York and other states are painfully learning.
