Last week, prior to Donald Trump's Louisiana visit, the anti-Trump media had fun mischaracterizing remarks made by LA. Governor John Bel Edwards. If you watched any of the mainstreamers, you were under the impression that the Governor told Trump not to come. Like so much of what those outlets report, that wasn't exactly true.
What Edwards said was:
"We welcome him to Louisiana, but not for a photo-op. Instead we hope he’ll consider volunteering or making a sizable donation to the LA Flood Relief Fund to help the victims of the storm."
"I didn't dismiss his trip as a photo-op. Before he came down, I said we welcome him here, we want him to be helpful. And we hope that it doesn't turn into a mere photo-op." Edwards said Trump's visit to the state was positive for Louisiana. "Because it helped to shine a spotlight on Louisiana and on the dire situation that we have here, that it was helpful," he said. "I also appreciated the good phone call, the conversation that I had with Gov. [Mike] Pence [R-Ind.], who was sincere and genuine when he called, and we spoke for a long time on Friday morning about their desire to be helpful," he said about Trump's running mate.
So, while Obama was golfing and Hillary was lounging around Cape Cod with Cher, Trump was down in 'bayou country' looking presidential. The press has got to be livid that they're being forced to give Trump some positive coverage. Let's hope we see more of this Donald Trump over the next couple of months...Mary Landrieu: 'I want to thank Mr. Trump for coming to LA…I hope Sec Clinton will make her way down. I hope Pres Obama will make a visit.'
