CNN is still doing everything it can to pretend the network is made up of unbiased reporters who offer only the un-spun, unvarnished, facts. It's ludicrous, but they genuinely believe people are continuing to buy into their "serious newsmen" schtick. They proclaim their middle-of-the-road status with all the fervor of the Iraqi information minister announcing that "there are no coalition tanks in Baghdad" - while tanks rolled by in the background.
CNN'S ridiculous "Apple Banana" ad
Just as that armored column made a fool of Baghdad Bob, CNN's 30-year history of slanted "journalism" is catching up to the news net.
Their ratings are falling, and they're scrambling to find a way to restore their squandered credibility.
So far, the ridiculous "Apple Banana" ad seems to be their big play for respect.
Hoo-boy. If that's the best they've got, maybe it's time to hang up the spurs.
The fact is that everyone now realizes that Ted Turner's Frankenstein is every bit as biased as MSNBC. The difference, of course, is that at least MSNBC is honest about it. They gleefully admit their left-wing stance, they proudly carry that banner and they have every right to do so. They're going after a liberal audience. If that's the company they want to be, good for them.
CNN, on the other hand, can scream about bananas and apples until it's blue in the face. ...But if they don't offer some kind of serious mea culpa, the 'fake news' label is going to stick.
Just ask this guy, who wandered through an Anderson Cooper segment yesterday.
Sorry CNN. Credibility, once it's shredded, is tough to get back.
