MASSACHUSETTS: Final poll shows Republican leading in governor's race

It's not as if Massachusetts has never had a Republican governor. Just in the past quarter century, both William Weld and Mitt Romney have held the job. But it's still not a place where you really expect a Republican to win. This year, though, it seems as if there is almost nowhere Democrats are safe. The final Boston Herald poll prior to today's vote shows Republican Charlie Baker with a 46-42 lead over Democrat Martha Coakley, who was the Democratic Party establishment's choice.

Coakley, by the way, is the candidate Hillary Clinton showed up to shriek for last week when she informed the rest of us that businesses and corporations don't create jobs. It appears that Coakley is well regarded in political circles but holds little appeal to Massachusetts voters. Sort of like another person mentioned in this paragraph.
