A lot has changed since then. The press used to exist to challenge the government and hold the powerful to account, but today, most corporate journalists serve as mouthpieces for our ruling class and protect the institutions they’re supposed to dispute. No wonder the public hates them.

Will that flip ever be reversed? And it is still possible for the media to regain the country’s trust? Matt Taibbi joined The Tucker Carlson Show for a discussion on that, the Twitter files, his experience living in Russia, Obama’s assassination of an American citizen, and more.

“The country needs journalists. And the thing that you need most of all in journalism to be good at is you need to have some bravery. That wasn’t true in American journalism for a long time. Probably not since the Vietnam days or the Red Scare was there a situation where there was a real social price to pay for taking a certain stance on things. Now there is.”
