McCain Uses “M” Word—Mom and Mormonism—Against Romney!

--Satire-- You know a presidential candidate is struggling for survival when he or she drags out his or her elderly mother in an attempt to smear an opponent.

John McCain played the game to perfection on Friday when he postponed the passing of his 95-year-old mother, Roberta McCain, long enough to have Roberta drop an "M" bomb on opponent Mitt Romney, a practicing Mormon. Roberta McCain dropped the M bomb by declaring, "As far as the Salt Lake City thing, he's a Mormon and the Mormons of Salt Lake City had caused that scandal. And to clean that up, again, it's not a subject." She was referring to the scandal in the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics and Mitt Romney's Mormon faith. Ever the gallant one, John McCain quickly did the only thing he could to save face without pretending not to know his own mother, by saying, "The views of my mother's are not necessarily the views of mine." To which Roberta countered, "Well, that's my view and you asked me." * Touche! Now Roberta's son, John, a virtual infant at 71, has to clean up after mum in the ultimate role reversal. McCain will have to start by explaining mum's "you asked me" statement, which lacking an explanation to the contrary, sounds as though the entire episode was rehearsed from top to bottom. Except, perhaps, the "you asked me" line. In the meantime, McCain's campaign honchos are looking for another way to attack Romney in a less risky, more PC manner. Sans Roberta!
