Media Blackout: Soldier Slain by Domestic Terrorist Laid to Rest with Honors

The victim of a domestic terrorist was laid to rest today without the benefit of the major news coverage his story deserved.

Private William Long, a US Army recruiter, shot and killed by a Islamic convert on June 1 as he stood outside of an Army-Navy recruiting station in Little Rock, Arkansas. His killer, Abdulhakim Majahid Muhammad, a/k/a Carl Leon Bledsoe, converted to Islam as a teenager. Long's family have a long history of military service and dozens of family members and friends, as well as hundreds of Patriot Guard riders gathered at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery to bid the 24-year old soldier farewell. The emotional service, which was open to the public, included a 21 gun salute. There were many in attendance from the US military and the law enforcement community to pay their final respects to a fallen soldier -- the first killed on American soil by a terrorist since September 11, 2001. Unfortunately, except for a few news stories filed by Associated Press and local newspapers, the majority of the major news outlets ignored the service. Even the story carried in the Little Rock news media failed to mention how the soldier was murdered and by whom. "The mainstream news media -- if we can still call them that -- are in lockstep with President Barack Obama's Administration. There wasn't even a representative from the Obama White House at the funeral," said former NYPD detective and US Marine Sid Frances. "Perhaps we're better off not having politicians at the service who would only take attention away from Pvt. Long and his family and his service," said the decorated cop and Marine. Pvt. Long and another man, Private Quinton I. Ezeagwula, 18, were shot as they stood outside the Army-Navy recruitment center in Little Rock. Ezeagwula was wounded but survived the attack. According to the New York City Police Department's Intelligence Division, the suspect drove his SUV by the Army/Navy Recruitment Center located at the Ashley Area Square Shopping and opened fire on the two recruiters standing outside of the military recruitment offices. Emergency Medical Responders pronounced Long DOA (dead on arrival), while the Ezeagwula was rushed to the hospital where he was in stable condition. The young soldier returned home and is expected to undergo physical therapy.
