Corporal Martin Dube from the 5e Regiment


TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 17, 2009) - The motorcade carrying our fallen soldier, Corporal Martin Dube from the 5e Regiment de genie de combat based at Canadian Forces Base Valcartier near Quebec City, will be travelling on Highway 401 West, this afternoon.

Private Dube was killed as a result of an explosion of an improvised explosive device (IED). The incident occurred in the vicinity of Panjwayi District, approximately 20 km southwest of Kandahar City at around 12:30 p.m., Kandahar time, June 14, 2009. Corporal Dube was responding to a call to neutralize two IEDs when one of them exploded. He was serving as a member of the Joint Task Force Headquarters. The aircraft carrying our fallen soldier will arrive at 8 Wing, CFB Trenton at 2:00 p.m. this afternoon. The motorcade is expected to leave the base no later than 3:00 p.m. and travelling west on the "Highway of Heroes," is expected to arrive in Toronto at approximately 5:00 p.m. Motorists are advised this may cause a delay in rush-hour traffic.
