O’Reilly’s attempted ambush of Sara Palin on the “birther” issue

Money Talks Part 2

As is usual, when a column hits a nerve I get quite a few comments from folks who may have read it, but didn’t get the message in the words. One commenter sent me a comment spread over 3 long emails. Somehow, to this writer, if I even suggest that the question of Obama’s legitimacy may be a valid topic for discussion, I have gone over the deep end into the tin foil hat conspiracy stew.

Sorry to disappoint you, but I don’t automatically embrace any theory. That doesn’t mean that, especially in the case of our Commander in Chief, any suspicion concerning the vetting process should be ignored simply because it may be ridiculed by the liberal left. Money Talks Part 1 pointed out that just such an attitude has suddenly been adopted by certain Fox News headliners. That that attitude change has taken place is undeniable, but pointing it out, to some folks, is obviously deranged behavior. One Fox News headliner I did not mention is Bill O’Reilly. This CFP article, deals with O’Reilly’s attempted ambush of Sara Palin on the “birther” issue. Palin, obviously far more intelligent than Old Bill gave her credit for, didn’t fall for it. Again, those semi-conservatives who think a little bit of hypocrisy for the sake of a paycheck is quite all right will consider this example to be an unwarranted attack. Go ahead; your opinion doesn’t move me. I proved a long time ago that my integrity was not for sale at any price. That is why, in spite of being the first freshman Assembly member in Navada’s history to have 4 of the 5 allowed bills to be stolen by the Democrat Leadership and then passed into law, the only Nevada Legislator to ever be nominated for the JFK Profiles in Courage Award, and the only member ever to get a bill passed in spite of Casino opposition, I was betrayed by my own party leadership and my own Assembly caucus because, in the words of Sue Lowden, the then GOP State Chair, I was, “too honest to be trusted”. Integrity costs and if an office holder shows real integrity, more often than not the American voters get rid of them. Based on the responses to Money Talks and A Conservative Manifesto, I can see that fact may continue to hold true. When push comes to shove, most people are uncomfortable with too much honesty. I am not writing about rudeness masquerading as honesty, that’s just bad manners. It is not honesty to insult someone when they ask an opinion about their look. No, I am dealing with the ability to tell the truth, even if it costs you votes or money. If you are in office, you owe the voters the truth, even if that truth is telling them the answer to their question is classified. If you are an individual with a huge listening constituency such as that occupied by Hannity, Beck and O’Reilly, than you owe your listeners an honest, consistent opinion, not what is dictated by the network. Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage and Jerry Doyle, not to mention my own local Alan Stock, these are all talk show hosts with no employer/employee ties to Fox have remained consistent. I cannot believe that simply pointing out the difference can be logically considered a lunatic fringe action…that is, unless the one making that assertion is a member of the afore-mentioned fringe. One commenter, who has no idea that holding down the caps lock key is not good grammar, insists that Money Talks is yet another tirade from a hate-filled bigot with low intelligence. That’s all I’m going to do as far as that one goes. The liberal left is so replete with micro-cephalic intellects that it is a waste of time trying to educate them. My concern is with those normally decent people who are now acting like the mushy-brained just because their heroes have been revealed as having pottery footsies. Folks, man up and move on. Rather than killing the messenger, how about letting Fox know that you will not accept Saudi manipulation of the last honest News Network on earth. For some reason, Fox has begun an all out attack on the Tea Party Movement in conjunction with the same sort of attack by the old line, McCain-style GOP. Just as Saudi money has seemingly influenced the Fox hosts; it is also plausible that Middle Eastern oil dollars are influencing the GOP leadership. From what I experienced right here in Nevada at the hands of my own party when they learned that some men cannot be bought, I can only say, Money Talks.
