In past few years, interest in water gardening has surged. Despite the drastic reduction in size of urban gardens and even condominium life styles, relaxing with water has found its proponents. Despite a plethora of would-be exploiters of this, both suppliers and retailers, Moore Water Gardens continues to more than hold its own against newcomers. So successful are Moore/See family, in fact, that three spanking new greenhouse recently joined those existing already along with the outdoor ponds and other structures. These include facilities for manufacturing fibreglass pools. While such modern innovations are a welcome alternative to the concrete ponds of yore, Moore Water Gardens last name remains what they are dedicated to. Hardy or tropical water lilies may attract the novice but even more exotic are lotus. Or how about papyrus, from which the Egyptians made their famed writing material? Also to be found here are ornamental-leafed taro, the traditional foodstuff of Polynesia and many another tropical locale. Those more attracted to the concept of native, hardy water plants can find plenty to chose from also, from water iris, arrowhead, sweet flag and cattails to the definitely more unusual. All these and much, much more are in fine condition at Moore’s, not festering in semi-stagnation at some box store’s seasonal display. Little wonder that 2007 saw the business celebrate its 75th anniversary. Be prepared for a wonderful browse at www.moorewatergardens.com
