Moving Forward Act Sounds Like Germany's Failed Energy Plan

Moving Forward ActThe Energiewende in Germany has been a financial disaster, but, some in Congress want to use it as their model of green political correctness. 1 So what is Energiewende? Its a plan that resulted in aggressive and reckless expansion of wind and solar power, causing German consumers to shoulder the cost of feed-in tariffs in the form of sky-high electricity bills. The residential sector in Germany is suffering under the weight of the renewable surcharges, which is making residential electricity prices three times higher than those in the United States. While many advocates of renewable power want everyone to believe that renewable energy is economic, Germany and its electricity bills and methodology for covering the higher cost of renewable energy are proof that is not the case. 1

The Medicare hospitalization trust fund is projected to go broke in 2026

In the United States, wind and solar power are subsidized by federal and state tax credits and mandates that over half the states have enacted which force wind and solar power into their generating systems. While the tax credits were supposed to be temporary to allow for a young industry to get off its feet, they have now been in place for 30 years—more than enough time for the industry to reach adulthood The wind production tax credit has been extended a dozen times since 1999 and the Democrats in the house of Representatives want to extend it again under the guise of coronavirus. Only this time, they want to allow for the option for direct payments rather than a credit on investors' taxes, which they believe will encourage investment. The US Treasury estimates that the existing form of Production Tax Credit will cost taxpayers $40.12 billion form 2018 to 2027, making it the most expensive energy subsidy under current tax law. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other Democratic leaders included extensions of tax breaks for the renewable energy industry as part of a $1.5 trillion infrastructure package. The infrastructure bill, called the Moving Forward Act, extends a tax break for onshore wind developers for five years and one for solar developers for six years. It would also allow those renewable energy companies to receive the credits as direct cash payments, rather than only being able to use them to lower their tax burden. 1 However, Senate Republicans have already called the partisan legislation dead on arrival. “This so-called infrastructure bill would siphon billions in funding from actual infrastructure to funnel into climate change policies,” said Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. 2 Right now, The Fed is buying up the equivalent of whatever additional debt Congress and the President rack up. That, however, can't continue indefinitely and in unlimited quantities, despite what some progressive economists are peddling. And there are some days of reckoning around the corner. The Medicare hospitalization trust fund is projected to go broke in 2026. That's just six years from now. The Social Security retirement fund is expected to hi the wall just eight years after that. Reports Robert Robb, “The federal government needs to be preserving some fiscal headroom to deal with payroll taxes and Treasury IOUs no longer covering promised senior benefits. House Democrats are spending like there is no tomorrow. But tomorrow always comes.” 3

Electric cars have 'significantly higher CO2 emissions than diesel cars

The Moving Forward Act is a $1.5 trillion, 2,300 page bill that would touch almost every aspect of American life, from the roads we drive on to the way rural communities get broadband internet, from improving ports and train networks to investing in schools and child care. There's even talk in there about electric or hybrid airplanes. 4 There are two stand-out items on the electric vehicle list. First, support for developing an electric vehicle charging network and, second widespread adoption of zero-emission cars, vans, and buses through tax credits for purchasing vehicles, supporting zero-emission vehicle manufacturing, and deployment of publicly accessible electric vehicle charging infrastructure including underserved communities. A recent German study says electric cars are, in fact, pretty bad for the climate, it turns out. Turns out that electric cars have 'significantly higher CO2 emissions than diesel cars. When production of the batteries is accounted for, an e-car 'burdens the climate' 11 to 28% more than a diesel car. The study also criticizes how the EU legislator likes to consider the electric cars as being 'zero-emission' vehicles, this giving the impression electric cars do not cause emissions and have little impact on the environment. 5 A final note on Energiewende: Joanne Nova reports,”Compare the outrage: Germany abandons carbon target, but stays in Paris agreement. US abandons Paris but makes actual carbon cuts. One of these nations is a global pariah. Which is more important, paper promises you don't keep, or lower outputs of planet destroying gas”? 6 How does Joe Biden see all this? His plan would be $2 trillion instead of the present House Plan of $1.5 trillion. The Biden $2 trillion plan comes on the heels of the Biden-Sanders Unity Task Force recommendations on addressing climate change and environmental injustice, as well as House Democrats 500 page report on solving the climate crisis. 7
