MSNBC: Hey, Obama's not so much of a dictator. ...If you compare him to Kim Jong Un!

If you're reading this site, there's a good chance you're a fan of the U.S. Constitution. Unlike President Obama, you probably think that separation of powers, the 4th Amendment, and the 5th Amendment are things to which we should be paying attention. When Obama ignores them, perhaps by ignoring laws or signing the NDAA, you might be tempted to say he's acting like a "king," an "emperor," or a "dictator."

Well, if that sounds like something you may have done in the past, MSNBC host Alex Wagner is here to set the record straight. She and her network are defending their favorite President from scurrilous right-wing attacks. They want you to know that you're wrong about his unilateral activities. To get the point across, all they had to do was compare him to someone slightly more extreme – someone like North Korean crackpot, Kim Jong Un.
There is only one Kim Jong Un and in North Korea, that's a law. By directive of the North Korean regime, the name Kim Jong Un is now off-limits to any other citizens of the secretive and repressive state. Birth certificates with the name Kim Jong Un are rejected and anyone who happens to share the supreme leader's name must change it. The order dates back to 2011 when Kim came to power after the death of his father, Kim Jong Il who incidentally participated in the very same vanity project as did his father before him. The cult of personality is nothing new to North Koreans who are required to hang portraits of Kim's father and his grandfather on the walls of their homes and offices. North Koreans also wear lapel pins featuring their leaders and riotous applause is strongly encouraged wherever and whenever the one and only Kim Jong Un appears. To all the detractors who compare our American president to an emperor and a dictator, this is what dictatorship actually looks like.
Now you can see how wrong you've been. Never mind that Obama is ignoring (and breaking) laws. Compared with Kim Jong Un - a probable psychotic, the man charge of one of the planet's most oppresive regimes, and a guy who "probably" didn't feed his uncle to the dogs - Obama's a #! This is a bit like saying "Jeffrey Dahmer wasn't much of a murderer ....when you compare him to Adolph Hitler." It's also the kind of unassailable logic we’ve com to expect from the fine folks over at MSNBC. What was that about the soft bigotry of low expectations?
