Now you know me, not exactly a big fan of libertarians. But come on.
So let me see if I have this straight. Because libertarians don't like government to do much of anything, and Detroit's government doesn't do much of anything it should be doing because its liberal big-government loving City Council is completely inept . . .

I was not aware that the libertarians' preferred path to their utopia was to soak taxpayers to the hilt, spend it all, borrow even more, and amass so much debt that a massive municipal bureaucracy of more than 9,000 (more than 12,000 as recently as last year) comes to a standstill - still there, still collecting their salaries, but delivering no services in return. I was not aware that the libertarians' perferred path to their utopia was to get in bed with public employee unions, granting them generous wage, benefit and retirement packages such that more than 20,000 retirees are collecting pensions.
Look, libertarians, I'm still not your friend. But even I will defend you against an attempt this absurd to pretend the policies that led Detroit to ruin were anything other than left-liberal. I understand the media is having a cow at the realization that a big city run by Democrats for generations has imploded, and there's no way to blame anyone but Democrats because that's who's been in charge all this time. I understand they're desperate for any way to spin this that makes it look like something other than what it is.
But Detroit a
