Neil deGrasse Tyson: Sowing Atheism Throughout the Cosmos

As a creationist, I find Neil deGrasse Tyson's presumption to educate America on the meaning of science as host of Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey repulsive and sad. I am repulsed by Tyson's transparent attempt to promote atheism and discredit the Word of God, and saddened that so many cannot recognize the Dark Age a priori pseudo-science animating his slick words.
No matter how he disguises it with his talk of the possible compatibility of "religion" and "science" (terms he leaves undefined), Tyson wants all of his viewers to forget God and instead embrace his atheism. He said exactly that at an atheists' conference in 2006 in San Diego entitled "Beyond Belief: Reason, Religion & Survival." In Session Two on November 5th, at 40:45 of his presentation, Tyson remarked to fellow atheist Lawrence Krause: I want to put on the table, not why 85% of the National Academy [of Sciences] rejects God, I want to know why 15% don't. That's really what we've got to address here. Otherwise, the public is secondary to this . . . If you can't convert our colleagues, why do you have any hope that you're going to convert the public? Tyson's words reveal that it is his intention to convince "the public" to "reject God," and to "convert" them to atheism. In another part of his speech (13:00) on this same subject, Tyson vehemently demanded to know, "How come this number [the small percentage who hold some kind of belief in God] isn't zero?" Tyson is quite correct to insist that evolutionists reject God. He wants to know why all the members of National Academy of Sciences (NAS) aren't atheists because logically, they should be. Atheism and molecules-to-man evolution are inextricably bound together. Both reject the possible existence of a Creator/Designer, and are grounded in atheist/materialist philosophy. Tyson's remarks demonstrate that atheist ideology is the very foundation--the major premise--of his evolutionist "science." Tyson's "science" goes like this: There is no Creator; therefore, chance human reptile descent must be true.

In Tyson's world, there is no possible evidence that can contradict his major premise of no Creator/Designer. That's what makes it Dark Age a priori pseudo-science, the heart of the Darwinian tradition. Darwin's elder brother Erasmus wrote to Charles after reading his copy of The Origin of Species: "The a priori reasoning is so entirely satisfactory to me that if the facts won't fit in, why so much the worse for the facts is my feeling." We shall see several paragraphs below that there is one huge and irrefutable atheism/evolution-contradicting scientific fact that just "won't fit in" to Tyson's concocted story-line. But first, some background on the deceptive a priori method Tyson embraces. Darwin's a priori reasoning was not a step forward for science but a great leap backwards. Theologians in Medieval Europe, also using the a priori method, reasoned from one false proposition to another, until they had built up a great tower of pseudo-science, tempered with false religious mortar, until the great Roger Bacon, and 300 years later, Francis Bacon, with his Novum Organum taught people to learn by inductive facts rather than by traditional deduction. Before that time, everybody accepted the teaching of Aristotle that heavy bodies fall to earth faster than light ones. Galileo disproved it by dropping objects of various weights from the top of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. True science follows the a posteriori method, insisting that an assertion can only be known to be true on the basis of experience and evidence. The NAS prefers the a priori method of Aristotle, believing that their atheist foundation can be known to be true independent of any experience or evidence. What Tyson "knows" to be true and the religious atheists at the NAS today "know" to be true by the unscientific a priori method is that there is no Creator/Designer. While every living species appears to be designed, to the atheist, none of them can be, and what's worse, that horrid possibility (to them) cannot even be explored. They thus identify themselves as atheist ideologues, not truth-seeking scientists. As part of the body of Christ, I believe that the Judeo-Christian Scriptures (Genesis to Revelation), in the original Hebrew and Greek (with the first three chapters of Daniel written in Aramaic), and translated concordantly, are the inspired word of the Creator God, and that at all levels, nature, a creation of God, does not contradict these Scriptures in any way. I accept valid scientific explanations of nature and the known universe, but reject Tyson's atheist/materialist interpretations of nature and science, especially the unsubstantiated, implausible hypothesis of chance human reptile descent by means of millions of beneficial genetic copying errors that allegedly took place in the reproductive genes over billions of years. As to one particular of our origins as a species, I believe Genesis 2:7: "And forming is the Lord God the human (Adam) of soil from the ground, and He is blowing into his nostrils the breath of the living, and becoming is the human a living soul" (Concordant Literal Translation). Soil is still the physical source of our being. The nutrients from the soil, entering the mother with the food she ingests, feed the merged microscopic sperm and egg that begins our life as humans. The nutrients from the soil don't magically create flesh on their own: They require intelligently expressed operating instructions in the form of encoded information to create a viable embryo, and ultimately, a living child. The encoded instructions are extremely precise. The information that forms the brain is not the same as the information that forms the fingernails. This information, these encoded instructions, are found in our DNA. Now for the one huge and irrefutable scientific fact that just "won't fit in" to Tyson's concocted storyline: Information always has an intelligent source. This is not up for debate. It is a scientific fact. There is no intelligent source in Tyson's atheistic a priori "science," and yet every living cell bears evidence of that manifest intelligence. Atheists cannot recognize this truth without abandoning their atheism, and becoming, at the very least, agnostic. Tyson wants to scare us away from Scripture, to discount it without examining it. He says that "enlightened religious people" understand that the truths of nature and humanity's past are not to be found in Scripture but in scientific textbooks. Really? Tyson was a contributor to the science textbook "Science, Evolution, and Creationism" (The National Academies Press, 2008) in which the NAS maintains the position that we humans are the product of chance human reptile descent. I responded to it with my book "Sowing Atheism: The National Academy of Sciences' Sinister Scheme to Teach Our Children They're Descended from Reptiles." The NAS book is a short one, and yet within it, I found thirty specific examples of scientific incompetence including circular reasoning, turning the scientific method on its head, presenting evolution theory as sacrosanct dogma, relying on the opinions of apostate religious leaders as "proof" of evolution, urging people to mock as ignoramuses those who challenge belief in chance human reptile descent, transmuting evolutionist speculation into fact just by saying it is such, falsely claiming there are many proven "mechanisms" for evolution, failing to grasp the difference between the interpretation of evidence and the evidence itself, and intentionally violating the rules of grammar to force a desired conclusion. So much for the truth in "science textbooks." Tyson believes he evolved from worms and reptiles by chance, and that he possesses neither a spirit nor a soul. His own atheist/materialist science demands that we refer to him not as a creature or creation but as a mutant randomite. Since Tyson does not believe he is intelligently designed, I wonder how he figures he got so smart.
