Is the New York State Board of Elections using their press connections to drum up a story against a citizen election integrity group simply for insisting they do their jobs accurately?

New York State Board of Elections Warning Citizens of Possible 'BOE Impersonators'

In the last few days, multiple news organizations across New York State have sounded a frantic alarm over “board of elections” going door to door asking voters about their registration status. Stories have appeared on TV stations in Nassau County, Buffalo, Chautauqua County, and in print in Onondaga County, where they reported… “The Onondaga County Board of Elections asked the sheriff and district attorney’s office today to launch criminal probes into the impersonators...”

Who could they be talking about? What’s really happening?

Election integrity group New York Citizens Audit

Here’s a clue, the election integrity group New York Citizens Audit recently submitted a 15 page report detailing literally millions of errors and irregularities in the current New York State voter rolls, including 1,437,699 counterfeit registrations, 143,226 voters who are listed as voting before they ever registered, 201,908 voters with no identity verification, 48,784 voters with no address listed, and 20,023 voters over the age of 115.

In a few words, they certified inaccurate results as accurate, and non-compliant results as compliant. This violates Federal election laws and any official who signed off is guilty of perjury and/or election fraud. This is a damning report on the honesty of the entire voting system in the state of New York.

This follows their similar report for the 2020 election which found--among many other irregularities-- 51,150 voters with no address, 19,712 voters with ages under 18 or over 115, and 70,429 voters who registered AFTER they voted.

Election integrity group seems to wonder if these stories are true, or just fake news to deflect attention from their recently filed report

In response to this wave of impersonation hysteria publicity, New York Citizens Audit said in a statement “New York Citizens Audit has seen a NY State Board of Elections announcement of non-specific accusations about individuals, across multiple counties in New York, allegedly impersonating county election officials. The NYSBOE email states it is "aware" of incidents where impersonators have "confronted" individuals at their homes and "accused" the individual of crimes for allegedly appearing in the NY Voter Database more than once. Multiple County BOEs have recirculated this message. Surprisingly, New York Citizens Audit has received an inquiry from a reporter about what NYSBOE seems to describe as a widespread conspiracy across multiple New York counties.”

If such accusations are true, this would be very disturbing. Impersonating an election official is a serious matter. But the election integrity group seems to wonder if these stories are true, or just fake news to deflect attention from their recently filed report. They are challenging the NYSBOE to share the names and details of the initial claims, and ask if it has turned this information over to the proper authorities for investigation.

New York citizen's right to full, fair and free participation in local and national elections

Their statement continues… “New York Citizens Audit is calling for this transparency for a specific reason. If NYSBOE's announcement is not based on factual allegations, its announcement may result in discouraging citizens from coming forward to give information to ensure that NYSBOE's election processes comply with the law. More important, a precipitous and unfounded announcement by NYSBOE could act to discourage citizen cooperation with legal investigations of election procedures by creating a climate of fear among citizens about cooperating because of unfounded threats of criminal activity. If either of these is true, such announcements themselves are worthy of investigation by law enforcement authorities for potential interference in every New York citizen's right to full, fair and free participation in local and national elections.”

The National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NRVA) (Also called “the motor voter bill”) is one of the three pillars of modern election law. The others are the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) of 2002 and the Federal Information Security Modernization Act of 2014 (FISMA).

They were designed to modernize and streamline voting procedures while adding safeguards to the election process.

The purpose of NVRA was to…

Increase the number of eligible citizens who register to vote

Enhance the participation of eligible citizens who register to vote

Protect the integrity of the electoral process

Ensure that accurate and current voter registration rolls are maintained

Efforts to ensure accurate voting rolls across New York State and the rest of the country

These three Acts are what govern the activities of AuditNY and their efforts to ensure accurate voting rolls across New York State and the rest of the country.

NVRA states “Each State shall maintain for at least 2 years and shall make available for public inspection and, where available, photocopying at a reasonable cost, all records concerning the implementation of programs and activities conducted for the purpose of ensuring the accuracy and currency of official lists of eligible voters…”

Volunteers with NY Citizens Audit use legal methods to validate their findings, in order to have certainty that NYSBOE reporting is both accurate and compliant. The real issue is why is the board of elections interested in two or three anonymous allegations? Why aren’t they looking into the 5 million seemingly invalid or illegal registrations, and the 750,000 seemingly invalid or illegal votes NY Citizens Audit submitted for line-by-line reconciliation?

The voter registration process is an essential part of election integrity. Each voter record is the equivalent of a ballot since you need one to get the other. That is why eligibility must be verified thoroughly before any applicant can be registered and maintenance of registration lists must be scrupulous.

Similar voter registration scandals have been uncovered in states like Michigan and Georgia

Similar voter registration scandals have been uncovered in states like Michigan and Georgia, where tens of thousands of fake voter registration forms were submitted and accepted in 2020 over the objections of many front line court clerks. An organized ring of “registration mills” conducted by GBI Strategies, has been found to be operating in 20 different states and was funded by the Democrat Party.

If a name appears on a state’s list of registered voters, it is presumed to be legitimate, and allowed to cast a vote. Anyone who knows of a fake entry in the voter rolls can request a ballot and cast a vote for whomever they choose.

Is the New York State Board of Elections using their press connections to drum up a story against a citizen election integrity group simply for insisting they do their jobs accurately?

Time will tell.
