Newfoundland Government Prioritizes Newcomers While Citizens Wait Hours—or Die—for Basic Medical Care
July 16, 2025 – Raven Reports / NLAP
While emergency rooms across Newfoundland continue to overflow and families watch loved ones suffer or even die waiting for treatment, the City of St. John’s has just approved a new medical clinic specifically geared toward newcomers—at a time when the local population is being catastrophically underserved.

• A growing crisis of vaccine injury cases, many still without answers or medical support
• A severe shortage of doctors and nurses, with record numbers fleeing the province or retiring
• Reports of unjust treatment in emergency rooms, including seniors left unattended and critical cases ignored
• Newfoundland taxpayers, who fund the system, being told to “wait” while they suffer
The new clinic at 50 Mundy Pond Road, approved unanimously by St. John’s City Council, is being hailed as a win for newcomers—but for many residents, it feels like a slap in the face.
“Who is standing up for the people who built this province?”
With no full-time replacement for the former Family Care Team East, and many citizens now traveling hours just to see a family doctor—or not seeing one at all—the optics of opening a segregated clinic have caused outrage.
“We’re being abandoned,” said one St. John’s resident. “Our taxes fund the system, but now we’re being told there’s no space for us in our own province?”
A Two-Tier Health System?
Some are calling this the beginning of a two-tier health care system—one where political correctness trumps fairness, and long-term residents are cast aside in favor of policy optics.
Nobody is disputing that newcomers deserve access to care. But what Newfoundlanders and Labradorians are demanding is equity, transparency, and compassion—something they say has been missing since the pandemic began.

It’s time to ask:
• Why are we building new infrastructure for new arrivals, while current citizens are being left behind?
• Where is the accountability for vaccine injury support and the collapse of emergency care?
• And why aren’t our leaders listening?
