A Modern tale to tell, Choose wisely

No Fairy Tale

Once upon a time in a land called Providence there lived a virtuous maiden named Morality. She was to betrothed to the handsome and courageous Prince Truth who spent his time fending off evil dragons and generally doing his father’s bidding. King Love desired that all his subjects would honor and respect him and his son and follow the laws of the land.

While things were not perfect in the kingdom, most of the people followed the rules because they had some most had common sense and conscience and others because they respected and honored Prince Truth and his father the king. But into this land crept another prince, an evil enemy named Prince Lies. Lies recruited followers whose conscience was seared to spread doubt and unbelief about the king and his son Prince Truth. Lie’s plan worked better than he had hoped. The subjects began to dishonor the King’s laws and rebel against the authority of Prince Truth. The evil prince soon controlled most of the information and was able to influence not only the subjects of the kingdom, but many of its leaders. Lies sent his workers to infiltrate the controlling forces of the land. The evil prince’s offspring, Miss Information and her sisters, soon controlled much of the mass media. His evil sons, Greed, Vanity, Perversion, and Rebellion, soon captured the consciences of most of King Love’s subjects. Through his operatives evil Prince Lies was able to change the laws of the land. Judges no longer understood the clear laws of righteousness, and began to legislate from their benches. Politicians of the kingdom sought to please the pollsters and dishonor Prince Truth. Marriage was no longer restricted to one man and one woman. Killing innocent unborn babies became a protected and cherished choice. Pornography was championed as an indication of freedom of speech. Divorce made a mockery of covenant relationships. The fair maiden Morality began to doubt Prince Truth and her affection turned to Prince Lies. Maybe it was permissible to bend the rules to fit certain situations or circumstances. After all, it was a lot easier to live with a conscience that could justify changing the definition of evil. Prince Truth found it harder to lead the subjects. One day a group of judges who sat in ultimate authority under King Love, decided to make it illegal to own the book that contained the original laws that the king had written. Anyone owning the book, or speaking aloud its contents from memory could be charged with a Hate Crime. The few loyal to the King and who still followed Prince Truth were jailed or forced to meet in secret while threats of persecution became commonplace throughout the land of Providence. One day the king, who had been patient and longsuffering, decided to send Prince Truth to gather up his loyal subjects into a new kingdom. Seeing that many of his subjects had followed Prince Lies and altered the laws and dishonored Prince Truth, King Love watched as those who still honored him were brought into the royal palace to share in the wonders that the king had reserved for those who loved him and his son. But King Love would not sit idly by and watch the land of Providence flourish in the darkness of evil. The world now was left in total control of Prince Lies… but the rest of the story has already been written. Written in stone-- or more precisely on a Rock. Dear Reader, if you haven’t already made up your mind, you still have time to decide which leader you will follow. After all, the king loves you so much he has given you free will to make the choice. Whom you choose will affect you for all eternity. Choose wisely!
