Most Americans just can’t, and never will, understand the concept that “freedom isn’t free” because it was free for them

No Skin in the Game

“What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as freedom should not be highly rated.” ~ Thomas Paine

American patriots are composed of the following groups of people;

1. The few remaining World War II and Korean War veterans

2. Those of us who are veterans of the Vietnam War

3. Those who have served in the military and saw combat in the various conflicts since Vietnam

4. Those people who know and understand actual American history and the price paid by others

5. Those people who have legally migrated to and become citizens of America after living under repressive governments and know that America is headed down the wrong road

American patriots are a decided minority of the population in the United States of America

Ladies and gentlemen, American patriots are a decided minority of the population in the United States of America. Why is that? My assessment of the situation is that the majority of Americans did nothing to earn the freedoms they enjoy. To them, freedom was, in fact, free, and because of this, it is of little value. Freedom is the natural state of being for them, and they can’t envision anything else. This is an education failure in school and at home. Shame on us!

In March of 2022, Quinnipiac University conducted a very revealing poll. Americans were asked: “if they were in the same position as Ukrainians are now: stay and fight or leave the country?”

1. 60% of Democrats would not stay and fight

2. 43% of Independents would not stay and fight

3. 32% of Republicans would not stay and fight

4. 55% of all those polled said they would stay and fight

However, I am not ready to accept that 55% of Americans are actually committed patriots

"In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot." ~ Mark Twain

Does it give you a warm and fuzzy feeling to know that 60% of your government would cut and run if a fight to defend America was ever an issue? Please remember that overall, the vast majority of federal and state government employees are Democrat voters.

"We must face the appalling fact that we have been betrayed by both the Democratic and Republican Parties." ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

American patriots must take whatever action is necessary and not be stalled by the fool’s errand of waiting for the support of the majority

American patriots must “man up” and accept the reality that they will never win over a majority of American citizens to the cause of restoring the Constitution and the liberties already lost. Patriots today are in the exact same positions as the patriots who founded America. Most people are comfortable enough and are clueless about how the government lies to keep them mollified. Nearly half of Americans just don’t care, because they simply have no skin in the game.

"It does not take a majority to prevail... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men." ~ Samuel Adams

Much of the Declaration of Independence applies to We the People’s relationship with today’s United State government as it did with King George in 1776. The abuse of power is worse now because the current government has disregarded the Constitution that is supposed to limit what the government does. (The problems with the American government have been previously identified and there is no need to expand on that here.)

American patriots must take whatever action is necessary and not be stalled by the fool’s errand of waiting for the support of the majority. That is just not in the cards. Most Americans just can’t, and never will, understand the concept that “freedom isn’t free” because it was free for them.

“Posterity! You will never know how much it cost the present generation to preserve your freedom! I hope you will make a good use of it.” ~ John Adams
"Silence in the face of evil is itself evil. Not to speak is to speak, and not to act is to act. God will not hold us guiltless." ~ Dietrich Bonhoeffer
"Today, we need a nation of Minutemen, citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom." ~ John F. Kennedy

Steve Rossiter——

After a 55 year career as a professional pilot in the military, in law enforcement, in the private sector, and in federal civil service, I am now retired.

In many of these positions I repeatedly took an oath to defend the United States Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic.
