Northrop plans 750 job cuts



Northrop Grumman Corp.'s Aerospace Systems sector, created by the recent merger of the company's two locally based businesses, will cut up to 750 jobs in coming months by eliminating duplicate positions.

The aerospace giant, maker of jet fighter sections and military satellites, will make the move even as it continues to hire people in other areas of the company. The cuts will eliminate overlap in administrative and support positions created when the two sectors, based in El Segundo and Redondo Beach, combined in January. On Wednesday, Northrop notified employees about the planned cuts.
