A Romney candidacy?

Nothing could be Finer…

While the early bets are on Mitt Romney to win in SC and, if so, to be unstoppable in winning the GOP nomination, what, if anything, good for conservatives can come out of a Romney candidacy? Before you string me up and take away my conservative man card, allow me to state a few positives.

  1. Most conservatives I speak with are not fans of Mitt, but adhere to OMG (Obama Must GO!) Which means they are not likely to support a third party candidate that would split the vote as Perot did which allowed Clinton into the Oval Office.
  2. Compared to Obama, Romney at least would likely have a Republican congress to begin to dismantle the mistakes and socialistic moves of the current administration.
  3. The broken glass movement is strong and eager to rid the nation of the Muslim in Chief.
  4. Romney might surprise hard core conservatives by leaning more to the right than they thought especially if it rights the sinking ship and insures him four more years.
  5. Aside from Newt and maybe Santorum, Romney is a capable debater and should do well against Obama IF, IF, IF he goes for the throat and simply points out BHO’s many failures.
  6. The prospect of a few more Supreme Court appointments under Obama should rally all shades of Republicans.
  7. Forget the Occupy mooches, Romney—any GOP president would jump on things like offshore drilling, the Keystone pipeline, and hopefully neuter the out of control EPA!
  8. Mitt could court the Hispanic vote. His father George was part (half?) Mexican so a Romney presidency would give us our first “Hispanic” president.
  9. He might just be smart in choosing the right VP candidate. When Bush 43 ran in 2000, Cheney added “gravitas” to the ticket. Romney has enough gravitas (read that lack of personality), so his VP choice could add several votes.
  10. If you’ve read this so far, you might think I have resigned myself to a Romney nomination. Not true. But if he does start a tsunami in South Carolina which propels him to the needed number of delegates, one crucial element remains: the endorsement of Mitt by his GOP competition gracefully, and also enthusiastically.
We all know what’s ahead for America if Obama get’s another four years. That sucking sound alone should bring together the vast majority of conservatives to get off their collective keesters and not just vote, but volunteer at polling places to try to ensure the wholesale theft by the Democrats is minimized. Remember The Walking Dead is more than just a TV series—it’s a way of getting out the Democratic vote. There will be plenty of (zombies) walkers being driven to the polls, given cartons of cigarettes, and a fine bottle of hooch!
