I think President Obama is starting to lose it. I'm not talking about his big-spending liberal policies. Those haven't really changed since he took office. But the way he's starting to portray his critics wreaks of a man who has actually lost all confidence in his own policies and can't think of anything to do but lash out at those who keep pointing it out.
Yesterday his administration went into a hissy fit over the fact that Republicans want conditions for raising the debt ceiling. In addition to new spending cuts, they want a year's delay of the ObamaCare individual mandate and approval of the Keystone XL pipeline. In their snit, they declared they would not negotiate with people who have "bombs strapped to their chests."
These people are so ridiculous. In addition to the fact that these are good policy ideas he should embrace anyway, they're extremely reasonable conditions considering what he is asking of the American people.
If Obama gets the debt ceiling increase he wants, the man who incredibly said this would "not add to the nation's debt" will actually add $8,800 to the debtload of each American family. I don't know if you often think about this, but you should. The political class doesn't care who has to pay the debt. They only care about getting the authorization to borrow so they can keep spending. But you should care, because the responsibility for paying off the debt lies with you!
So what Obama is asking of each of you is that you will agree to assume responsibility for another $8,800 in debt, without any conditions or restrictions whatsoever. And if you think he should accept conditions, you are supporting people with bombs strapped to their chests.
