Whereas the Minister of Education, Laurel Broten, stated on October 10, 2012 that Catholic schools can no longer teach that abortion is wrong and labeled such Church teaching as ‘misogyny’ , which she alleged is prohibited under Bill 13, The Accepting Schools Act;

And whereas Catholic schools in Ontario have the constitutional right to transmit Church teaching on abortion to its students; And whereas Section 29 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms acknowledges the constitutional rights of Catholic schools to operate in accord to the Church’s teaching without interference from the State, Therefore, we call upon the Legislative Assembly of Ontario and all Party leaders to protect religious freedom by forcing Minister Broten’s resignation and by rescinding Bill 13 in its entirety, lest it remain a lingering threat to our most fundamental freedom.
