Taking sole credit for a victory he had little to do with and treating the killing of bin Laden as a 2012 campaign tool diminishes a hard earned victory for our nation

Only Obama Could Look Bad after Killing Osama bin Laden

It didn’t take President Obama long to mess up a good thing following one of the few actual “presidential” achievements of his entire administration. After years of bowing to dictators, apologizing for America, trillion dollar deficits, and a Marxist inspired healthcare bill destined for repeal, the US military handed Obama a gift from the political gods with the elimination of Osama bin Laden.

Americans took to the streets to celebrate and all Obama had to do to burnish his image was show a little humility. Apparently this was a mountain too high for our President to climb. Instead of inspired leadership from our Commander in Chief, all we’ve been treated to this week is further indications that Obama is the same self-centered political hack that he has always been. Obama’s fall from grace began almost immediately with his Sunday night announcement of bin Laden’s death. While the teleprompter hit the right themes of “America is great” and “we punish our enemies”, Obama never once mentioned the individual most responsible for the success of the operation, former President George W. Bush. Without the Bush administration policies of enhanced interrogations, secret prisons, expanded Special Forces and the Guantanamo Bay detention center, Obama wouldn’t be in position for his victory lap, and unless you live under a rock or write for the New York Times, everyone knows it. No wonder Bush refused Obama’s invitation to join him at Ground Zero. Lending his image to a 2012 Obama campaign photo-op would’ve been unworthy of all those who lost their lives on 9-11. Even Bill Clinton, who never met a camera he didn’t like, was smart enough not to tarnish his image by attending the manufactured event. The situation had become so potentially humiliating for Obama that he refrained from speaking at Ground Zero knowing that whatever he said would’ve sounded false and insincere. Obama’s refusal to release photos of bin Laden’s dead body is reminiscent of his insistence on holding the terror trials in New York. Once again our President is more concerned about the sensibilities of Muslims around the world than he is about his fellow Americans. Who cares what the Islamic fascists think? This is America’s victory. We paid for it, we sacrificed for it and for closure we need to see proof of death. How many times have we witnessed the infinitely more horrible images of the twin towers falling replayed on television again and again, compared to which the sight of bin Laden’s broken body pales to insignificance. The changing story coming out of the administration on the details of the operation is purely amateur hour. Rather than waiting to get the story strait and then informing the American people, it would appear that high level Obama officials ran to the press with any old yarn they heard through the grapevine. Did Osama hide behind a woman like a girly man? Was he armed with a rifle or his gun? Because of the conflicting accounts, many are confused to what went down, not exactly the kind of result that will raise America’s confidence in Obama’s leadership. As usual, Obama can’t help but show the world that he cares far less for America’s well being than he does for his own. Taking sole credit for a victory he had little to do with and treating the killing of bin Laden as a 2012 campaign tool diminishes a hard earned victory for our nation, and makes Obama seem even smaller than he already is.
