Our healthcare system is inefficient and failing

This isn't just an inconvenience. As one frontline doctor put it, "it's fatal." For patients over 75, a single night in the ER increases the risk of death.

In the United Kingdom, studies have shown that for every 82 patients left waiting six to eight hours, one additional death is recorded.

That's what's happening here, now, in our so-called "universal" system.

And what are the Liberals and fake Conservatives doing?

Either they're denying reality, or they want to throw even more of your money into a system that doesn't work. More centralized planning. More meddling from Ottawa.

They're wrong. And they're part of the problem.

Canada already spends more than most OECD countries on health care. Federal health transfers have more than doubled since 2006, rising from 20 to 52 billion dollars.

And what do we have to show for that money? The worst wait times of any developed country.

Throwing more money into a failing system doesn't fix it. It just feeds the bureaucracy.

The People's Party of Canada has a different plan. A bold plan. A plan that works.

We're the only party that believes in real health care reform in Canada, by:

· Repealing the Canada Health Act. This law gives Ottawa a stranglehold on provincial health care, stifling innovation and preventing any real reform.

· Authorizing a universal mixed public-private system. Like in all other developed countries except the United States. In these systems, patients have choice. Wait times are nonexistent. And no one is denied care due to low income, because everyone has insurance.

· Replacing cash payments from the Canada Health Transfer with a permanent transfer of tax points. We'll forgo the GST, 52 billion dollars in revenue, and allow the provinces to collect and keep that money. They will be fully accountable, as the Constitution provides, for funding and managing health care.

This isn't about ideology. It's about saving lives. It's about giving the provinces the incentives they need to fix the problem, instead of scapegoating Ottawa.

The establishment parties want to keep the status quo. They don't care if you wait 14 hours in the ER. They don't care if you die in a hallway.

We're the only ones telling the truth. We're the only ones with the courage to do what's right to build a health care system that truly puts patients first. Not bureaucrats. Not politicians.
