Pardon Me for Living

This past Saturday, March 27, 2010,somewhere between 10,000 to 20,000 Tea Party conservatives descended upon Harry Reid’s hometown of Searchlight, Nevada. Depending upon what side of the political spectrum you read the event was either a gathering of gap-toothed, pistol-packing Neanderthals or fervent patriots waiting for the chance to serve their country to the bitter end. The reality is somewhere else entirely.

These people are patriotic, true, but they fit neither hyperbolic description. To be honest, they are nothing more than the average, normal American citizen doing what they can to be heard. Events like this are happening more and more, though the mass media prefers not to report on them. You see, Washington DC stopped listening to Joe and Jane Sixpack a long time ago, and believe it or not Obama was put in office more on the failure of the Bush administration than on the merits of the Democrat Party’s candidate. The blatant refusal of the liberal wing of American politics to acknowledge that truth will propel the United States into a conservative majority for the first time in nearly 20 years. This fact has not been lost on many in the liberal rank and file. That realization has caused an increase in the very activity the mushy-brained contingent accuses conservatism of. If you check out some of my earlier columns you will see examples of hate speech, threats, libel, fraud and yes even violence against those whose only so-called “crime” is that of voicing an opposing opinion. But, to some in the liberal wing that is a crime worthy of death. This site lists some of the vilest language I have ever seen expressed against Sarah Palin; someone who has done absolutely nothing to deserve it. Surprisingly not a single member of the Democrat Party has done anything at all to stop it. In fact, I can easily picture people like Rahm Emmanuel and Michael Moore reading and smiling in agreement. Ann Coulter spoke at the afternoon event here in Henderson, Nevada. Miss Coulter is a tall, slender, extremely well spoken young lady; apparently far too well spoken for the Canadian liberal. The University of Ottawa was going to have Miss Coulter speak in their Marion Hall. It seems that, at least in the eastern half of Canada, any view differing from the liberal orthodoxy is a hate crime punishable by violence. One Canadian conservative activist, Ezra Levant said, “It would be physically dangerous for Ann Coulter to proceed with this event.” Mr. Levant may want to double check the thicker envelopes in his mail. It is always thus with the liberal. They should be free to not only spew the vilest language and threats against all those they oppose, but they should be celebrated for doing so. Of course, if a conservative utters a single word in opposition they should be silenced. If that word is joined by others and if it is done so effectively, the conservative must die! That is the liberal way. The Las Vegas Valley host a number of sporting events every year, the NASCAR circuit, the Professional Bull Riders Tour, Professional Rodeo, Major League Baseball and College Basketball. Out of all of them the crowds that cause the least trouble are the cowboys. Those who do the most damage are the basketball crowd. Any guesses as to why? Check out the politics of the demographics. The demographic that supports a philosophy of self-reliance and patriotism is the one that tends to build a society and champion the prosperity of their neighbor. The demographic that supports a philosophy of victimhood tends to add to the decay of society and considers the prosperity of their neighbor to be somehow personally demeaning. A visit to any decaying urban center will prove the assertion. If you want to see an example of the future the liberals behind Obama have for this country, visit inner city Detroit, Philadelphia, Chicago, LA or Oakland. That is a short list and it could be expanded to nearly every major city in the US with little effort. If you go there you will find people without hope, without drive and without literacy. They are Jesse Jackson’s legacy, Al Sharpton’s children and Caesar Chavez’s dream. They are a culture of hapless, helpless sheep and easily led to the voting booth for the price of cheap and easy welfare…all it costs them is their freedom. Michael Ramirez drew an editorial cartoon for March 15 that said it all. Picture the Democrat Donkey wearing a belt of dynamite and holding the trigger while saying “Obama Akbar!” Of course the cries of racism, hate, and sedition came flooding in. Obviously what is good for the goose is not at all good for the gander. Darn that pesky First Amendment. I will consider the liberal argument when and if I ever hear a liberal offer up a common sense and logical position on any given issue. I have yet to read or hear one. Pardon me for living.
