Failed vision of Socialist Utopia

Paying the Pie-eyed Piper

The New York Times article [link] describes today how the good life is soon going away in Europe. Europe has run out of people to pay for their Socialism and is looking at financial collapse. Cheerful news to read just prior to my 61st Birthday.

Sixty years after the US Marshall Plan subsidized European re-birth, the German led Wirtschaftswunder under Adenauer, and US-paid NATO security; the lazy and self centered Europeans have spent through Daddy's allowance and wonder what they must do to hang on to their failed vision of Socialist Utopia. Only German Chancellor Angela Merkel ... herself a former "East German" ... seems to have a clue of what a horrible future lies in store for them. Newsflash for Germany: Even returning to the vaunted Deutschmark will not help at this point. The vast majority in Europe appear to be like H.G. Well's description of the Eloi in "The Time Machine." They know what's coming but they just don't care; they just want the good life to continue some way, somehow. Besides, they've never been dragged into the underworld by the Morlocks before. No one has ever returned to tell the tale, so why worry about that? I find it ironic that Wells' tale was actually envisioning a world where Capitalism was the cause of societal collapse. At some point, even the spoiled Europeans can read the handwriting on the wall. Europeans have begat only 1.3 children per couple. But. they somehow expect that 1.3 children per family to fund their 2.0 pensions and healthcare. Memo to US Democrats: There are no longer any large numbers of "rich" Europeans left to surtax. The European systems are belly-up. The cockroach is on it's back and its legs are barely moving. Socialism has eaten the Golden Goose in Europe. They are picking at the bones and making soup. Generations X, Y, and Z in the USA have already figured this out and are planning ways to stem the bleeding. They see no reason to be taxed into oblivion just because their parents were too selfish to raise enough children [at least 3 per family] in order to sustain a tax-cost basis to pay for their lavish Social Security and Medicare. Add into that, illegal aliens lapping up Medicaid and welfare benefits and we are already as bad off as the Europeans. Our children are ready to wave the gesture of International Peace and Friendship towards the Europeans and their parents. I don't blame them one bit! So why are no alarm bells going off in America? It is appearing more and more to me that the Democrats well are on their way to electoral victory in November 2010. The GOP is feckless and without a clue how to fight them. The Tea Party is running low on gas ... can you spell "nap time?" Younger people are totally P.O.'ed and disinterested ... can't blame them. And the Democrats are going to lay low, do nothing substantially until November, except to blame George W. Bush [because no one even remembers FDR these days, much less Herbert Hoover]. On election day they will bus union members and illegal aliens to the polls to re-elect them, and they will continue their follies. It is almost 100 years since 1929 and the beginning of the Great Depression. The great American Electorate is a tabula rasa regarding real hardship. Revisionist histories of FDR and the Great Depression would have you believe that Roosevelt was the answer to our ills. He was in fact almost dictatorial in his ruthless application of New Deal ideas. After eight years of the New Deal in 1939, we were worse off than Europe, and FDR's solution was more Socialism. Sound familiar? The Pie-eyed Pipers of American Socialism [aka "Liberal Democrats"] have been running Free Marketers out of this country ever since 1931. They have ignored the Constitution and passed capricious laws designed to create citizen dependency and to entrench themselves in power. Except for a eight brief shining years in the 80s, the Liberals have succeeded in turn this Constitutional Republic into a mere Democracy. You know Democracy: That's where three wolves and two sheep have a discussion about what's for dinner. So, instead of a free and prosperous nation where large families come together at meals and decide whether to eat barbecued chicken, grilled steaks, bratwurst, or baked salmon; we may all be looking at Comrade Obama's Socialist dinners [for 3.3 people] of "cold pork" and "leftover gravy" in perpetuity. Mmm, Mmm, Mmm ... Barack Hussein Obama! Motivated yet?
