Police officers go for lunch, waitress pays their bill

On September 3, three members of the Baton Rouge Police Department stopped at Ichibin Sushi Bar and Japanese for lunch. After asking for the bill, the waitress, Crystal Gordon, brought them a receipt instead. On the receipt she had written, “Thank you for what y’all do for us every day. Have a safe and blessed day. I thought the least I could do is buy lunch.”

The cost of the meals totalled $36.58. The officers were so impressed with what happened they decided to make Gordon’s actions public. Later that day one of the officers, Officer Brandon Blust, posted what happened on the BRPD’s Facebook page. After setting out what she did, Blust wrote, “When we thanked her she broke down in tears and told us how sad she was because of how people have been targeting police.” The post contained a picture of the receipt showing what Gordon had written on it. Blust further thanked Gordon for showing the BRPD what a great city they work and live in and noted “your compassion and generosity touched all of us at the BRPD.” The post on Facebook has gone viral.
