Prepare for the freakout: South Dakota bill requires everyone to use public restroom of their birth sex

Of course, what's remarkable here is that anyone thinks this is remarkable. Let me explain how it works, boys and girls. If you have a pee-pee, you go in that room that says BOYS. If you have a va-jay-jay, you go in that room that says GIRLS. The fact that you're making me relive instructions from Sister Michael Francis in third grade is terrifying enough, but when adults need lawmakers to clarify this for them, no wonder Hillary gets taken seriously:

"History has never looked kindly upon those who attack the basic civil rights of their fellow Americans, and history will not treat kindly those who support this discriminatory measure," Chad Griffin, the president of the LGBT-rights organization Human Rights Campaign, said in a statement Tuesday.

I think I missed when it became a "basic civil right" to be able to walk into the other team's bathroom, drop drawers and go for it, but the ACLU and their fellow travelers are usually ahead of the curve on these things, or they invent their own curve. This is one of those issues where you want to think, OK, the left has pushed too far this time and they're going to get a backlash, but we've thought that before and been proven wrong. I really thought there was no way mainstream Democrats of the MSM would get behind the idea that Christian bakeries should be force to bake gay wedding cakes or fined six figures, or forced to sensitivity training, but apparently the culture's tolerance of fascism has progressed far more than I had noticed. This might be one of those seminal moments when the basic presumptions of the culture have changed, but the side that was always on the winning side of the issues can't quite process that at first - and keeps operating to its own detriment under the mistaken conclusion that it still controls the terms of the debate. This is not to say that most people agree with the change. I don't think they do. But it doesn't take most people to win the debate. It only takes the loudest, most determined, most threatening people to convince the political and business establishments that the path of least resistance is to give them what they want. There's no doubt in my mind that the vast majority of South Dakotans agree with this bill, but it's one thing to agree. It's another thing to be prepared to fight long, fight hard, fight dirty, fight to the bitter end. That the stance of the people who want to wipe out all definition and distinction where gender is concerned, and I think most of the general public is too busy living their daily lives to stand up to them, and not too inclined to listen to the insults and the condemnations if they do. When you're wrong and there's no way you will ever persuade the majority of people to agree with you, it's still possible to win an argument. This is how you do it. We'll see if South Dakota Republicans really understand what they're in for.
