“This nonsense has gone on long enough, and we demand the U.S. government stop prosecuting The Navy SEAL Three. Frankly, it is outrageous we are still pushing to convict our Navy SEALs who were just doing their jobs,” said Danny Gonzalez, Director of Communications for Move America Forward. Navy SEALs Matthew McCabe, Johnathan Keefe, and Julio Huertas were charged with being too aggressive in capturing terrorist mastermind, Ahmed Hashim Abed. Gonzalez also praised the 40 Members of Congress, led by Congressman Dan Burton (R-Indiana) and Congressman Dana Rohrabacher (R-California), for standing up for our troops. “We are glad to see these Members of Congress calling on Major General Charles T. Cleveland, Commander, Special Operations Command Central, U.S. Central Command, to drop all charges. We support them in their efforts.” “Charging the Navy SEALS sends the wrong message to both our troops and to the terrorists. How can we ask our bravest, most elite troops to carry out dangerous missions for our sake, and then have our own government charge them with crimes and threaten to punish them for doing their jobs? How can we expect them to do their jobs with the threat of court-martial over their heads?” asked Gonzalez. Terrorists are trained to claim prisoner abuse when captured. “Allowing these terrorists to abuse our system like this is shameful, and it only encourages the captured terrorists to keep leveling false charges against our military men and women,” Gonzalez said. The three SEALS being brought up on charges were successful in apprehending one of the most wanted terrorists still in Iraq. Abed is believed to have orchestrated the kidnapping, murder and mutilation of four civilian contractors who were providing security in Fallujah in 2004. Their bodies were dragged through the streets, taunted, burned and hung in a public display of brutality. “This terrorist is a monster. He is lucky the SEAL’s only gave him a fat lip,” Gonzalez concluded.
