Put the 'U' in USA

If we're honest with ourselves, as Americans we stand on a pretty broad set of shoulders: colonists, captives, aboriginals, confederates, unionists, suffragettes, populists, feminists, radicals, moderates, libertarians, liberals, conservatives, socialists, social democrats, communists, anarchists, independents, nationalists and so many other strands woven into rich national fabric. Truthfully, I think the country is still moving forward on our forebearers prodigious productivity, both ethical and otherwise. Can we keep America moving forward is the perennial question?
This Independence Day, July 4th, 2020, finds our national fabric stretched and sometimes scorched in ways paling that of previous challenging times. Every ideal and icon is being called into question and tried in a court of public opinion with harsh results. I'm a Southerner, a Black Nationalist Conservative dedicated to community autonomy (non CHOP: Capital Hill Organized Protest, style) AND helping the rest of the country. I'm a citizen not an outcast and conduct myself as such. I want everyone's heritage respected and placed into context while refusing racial relegation to second place by elites liberal nor conservative. If I thought tearing down cold stone monuments would change inequality I would have done so many moons ago. Tearing down monumental bias in warm bodies is a better exercise. This mindset overshadows lives and opportunity far more than statues who can't raise a finger to harm you. I say add more monuments so each strand of the national fabric stands represented for all to contemplate or ignore as they see fit. Don't erase history, enhance it! As problems mount and tempers rise, it's clear each of us will have to decide how he or she will, as I say, put the "U" in the USA. Politicians, protestors, pollsters and pundits won't have the final say about America's destiny. It'll be millions watching events unfold, unelected, perhaps unemployed and often unsure, who nonetheless will decide our fate by filling the "U" in USA with their hopes and concerns. Put the "U" in USA. Nobody else can make your unique contribution to the country and clearly, America needs it. Happy Independence Day for those who observe it. For those who don't, happy Saturday! #capblacksafetycreator is Nadra Enzi aka Cap Black, Grassroots Security Consultant in the real life Gotham City of New Orleans.
