Plan to provide respect and relief for Ontario families

Randy Hillier helps launch Changebook

(PERTH, ON) On Sunday May 29th, Randy Hillier, MPP for Lanark-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington, and the Ontario PC Caucus launched changebook , their plan to provide respect and relief for Ontario families. Many of the key elements featured in changebook are policies that Hillier has spearheaded over his past four years serving as the MPP for LFL&A.

“For many years now I have advocated for property rights on behalf of families across Eastern Ontario,” said Hillier. “Families in my riding have expressed to me over the past four years that their property rights have been abused under Dalton McGuinty - changebook offers practical solutions.” While the McGuinty Liberals have recklessly imposed limitations on your property such as declaring private land as a protected area, Hillier has pushed to ensure that the Ontario PCs will offer fair and reasonable incentives or compensation if it is necessary to protect sensitive environmental land. Hillier’s influences are noticeable throughout changebook; other policies Hillier has helped shape include full disclosure of union financing, the right to a secret ballot for certification votes, and paycheque protection legislation for unionized workers. Hillier first introduced these ideas in his Private Members Bill entitled Defending Employees’ Rights Act, 2010. “Unions must be held to the same standard that any business or charity is required to in terms of being transparent and open with their membership on their finances,” said Hillier. “I believe union members should not be forced to pay fees towards political causes that they do not support.” Hillier has also long advocated that Ontario must decrease the burdensome number of agencies, boards and commissions, and changebook introduces a sunset review process for these ABCs, ensuring that tax dollars are no longer wasted on unaccountable bureaucracies who cannot justify their existence.
