Reflections Of Character

As the dawn of a new day emerges we reflect on the sunsets of days left behind, did this journey that brought us to this place in time truly reflect our character? Have we done all in our power to strive to have the story be told that we lived up to our individual potential and that we lived up to a bar that was set long ago that each of us can be proud of?
Looking inward have we as individuals begun to search our souls to discover what is truly important or have we continued along the path of the superficial? Are we still following the decoy that has fooled us for so long into believing that artificial decadence is more important than individual sacrifice? No matter how elaborately conceived the lie may be, eventually the weight of maintaining the burden of deception drowns the fabric that it was built upon. Inch by inch the tentacles of truth will be exposed and the repercussions devour the deceiver in a panic-stricken swarm of factitious fallacies that they can never escape from. Meandering along the rails of darkened existence the overwhelming urge to continue building even more elaborate and complicated tales to justify the impiety and perversions of the sinful sensation that originally spurned the decision to choose right from wrong leads to a deeper fall from grace spiraling the soul deeper into the abyss. We swim against the tide to recover honor and a restoration of peace within the soul that may not only have hurt our standing, but also jeopardized the relations with all those who crossed the path of our personal malevolence.

Judgment and redemption of peers matter in our rise of personal growth, but if a sense of narcissism overwhelms our decision process so that we strive to either please or forsake actualities we chance the loss of those that we hold dear. Fooling not only those we impact, we also fool ourselves, come the time to be judged we will not be only judged for the good, but the bad as well. Redemption starts when we decide that we can rise above our own personal agendas and consider those that we impact the most. Accountability and self control are two elusive creatures that we fall prey to when we have forsaken our own inherent consideration of personal moralistic standards that we struggle to maintain and project in our day to day lives. It might seem that we are holding ourselves above the minimum requirements to maintain honor in our dealings. We somehow seek the easier path time and again as if we were hamstrung by an extraneous desire to not face the humility that owning up to one's own imperfections might enable us to encroach upon. Contention that our personal gratification has to be sacrificed periodically allows for growth within ourselves. Reality is the embodiment that serves as the benchmark whether we choose to ignore or embrace it. Eventually it checks our otherwise self indulgent pursuits, be they beyond our means or destructive to the harmony and equilibrium of what we know as right and wrong. Faith in our hearts, a strong balancing act between doing what is right and wrong, of holding a higher standard not only in our community but also in our pursuits of personal well being. Faith does not always have to be attributed to a religious context, it is what is in our inner soul that drives us to keep pushing forward even when we feel as though the weight of the world is crashing down around us. We all hold a sense of faith that we as individuals can and will rise above those adversities, the faith that some find in religion helps to cement guidance that is required by many, but what it does is assist those that already hold deeper strengths that are yet to blossom to full bloom. Even those who are not so religious hold faith in check in their hearts, be it they understand when they may work against those that look to religious teachings or not, they still hold a sense of faith that is equal to those who look to religion as a guiding path to find their direction between what is right and wrong. We can continue believing in misplaced falsehoods and tread a path that may lead to empty dreams and hopes, but eventually we have to own up to the fact that we may have to forgo the artificial decadence that we seek to please ourselves so that we can rise above and conserve the concrete foundations of principles set in stone long before we graced time. Those who seek from others that they may not have themselves, out of petty jealousy exhibit the failings of self achievement and personal self worth. The parsimony of those who find contention in this behavior have a deep void in the driving function that allows them to be led instead of leading. Fractures of faith and worth, may have helped influence this. The breakdown of a society that once helped promote these individual values in a person to be replaced with the reward of commonality, a loss of greatness, the humdrum existence of a guileless conglomerate. Can it be that as we have replaced individual prowess and potential that we have moved to indoctrinate a sense of self loathe of ourselves that infests in the behavior that is thrust upon others? To move forward as individuals in the new day we will have many questions of personal importance to ask ourselves to what kind of individual that we really want to be. We can be an individual that sets aside some of the more tempting desires and foibles that does not create a strong character. Or we can put aside those superficial temptations and move forward as an individual and project the good that is imbedded in all of us onto our fellow man regardless of resistance or folly. Honor, Faith, Hope, and Reality will win out over the dark forces that work against it as the truth prevails, let not the sunset dampen your charity or inner strength.
