Report: Wreckage of EgyptAir 804 found

Developing stories like this are always very fluid, and you need to be wary whenever someone tells you that a piece of information is "confirmed" or otherwise able to be reported with confidence. It certainly appears that EgyptAir Flight 804 is a victim of a terrorist attack, as are the 66 people who were aboard. The U.S. government seems to be operating at this point on the assumption that the plane was taken down by a bomb. Also, for those of you who are not aviation experts, CNN "avaiation analyst" Miles O'Brien offers this insight to help you: "Planes today just don't fall out of the sky."

Thank you, Miles O'Brien! We would have been in trouble without an aviation analyst to tell us that. Donald Trump has already weighed in, much to the disgust of the media, which wants him to wait for "investigators" or something:

Meanwhile, we're now getting reports that EgyptAir - or someone in touch with EgyptAir - has found the wreckage. Whatever the cause and whatever the policy implications, we pray for the victims and their families. We don't usually have to wait long for someone to claim responsibility. We also don't usually have to wait long for Barack Obama to take to the podium and rant and rave about how he's had enough of this. Oh. Wait. Sorry. That's when there's a domestic shooting. Terrorist attacks don't really raise his ire all that much, since after all you're more likely to die from falling in the bathtub, so Obama would really like you to relax about terrorism and stop trying to get him to do something about it when he's trying to redistribute wealth and other things that actually interest him. If Obama says anything it's usually to lecture the rest of us not to hate on Muslims. Maybe this time will be different. I have my doubts.
