TORONTO — In forging ahead on a pact with Hamas, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has revealed his true intentions according to B’nai Brith Canada. Hamas, a listed terrorist organization in Canada, the EU, the United States and most democracies, continues to be dedicated to the destruction of the State of Israel.
"With this decision Mahmoud Abbas has not only killed the peace process, but buried it as well," said Frank Dimant, CEO, B'nai Brith Canada. "For Hamas it is not an issue of borders but the murder of Jews and the desire to see the total destruction of the State of Israel. By choosing Hamas and terror over peaceful co-existence, Mr. Abbas has shown that he and his Fatah party can never be true partners for peace.
“Palestinians must now decide if Hamas and the Palestinian Authority leadership truly represent their best interests as they will ultimately be the ones harmed by this deal. We look to the Government of Canada to lead the way once again and take concrete measures to ensure that Canadian aid dollars do not end up in terrorist coffers.
“In the face of these developments, Israel must increase security measures for Jewish communities near Gaza as well as in Judea and Samaria. Experience with Hamas and the expulsion from Gush Katif has taught that unless communities remain strong, Israel will be met with a hailstorm of rocket and missile attacks.”
