An April 23rd news article, "Ross Issues Urgent Warning on Iran" by Newsmax.com reported that "...US and its allies probably have no more than a year to take action against Iran before that nation acquires nuclear weapons, warns Dennis Ross, an architect of the Mideast peace process." Because of his deception tactics, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is likely closer than a year's time to fulfilling his nuclear plans---until he is stopped.

Yet he is not being stopped and this is the problem.  Though the US and other national entities have repeatedly told Ahmadinejad to cease his nuclear plans, he continually defies them with impunity.  Usually, America and other free countries do not back-up their demands with forceful punitive measures.  Without suffering any serious consequences, Ahmadinejad has every incentive to continue his nuclear work.  He receives missile-related technologies and technical assistance from China and Russia.  He also received fully developed ballistic missiles and industrial aid from China.  Some of those missiles can carry nuclear or radioactive material.         Therefore, help from Russia and China, merely assists Ahmadinejad’s advance towards nuclear weapons.  If Iran acquires nuclear weapons, it can potentially destroy Israel while keeping America busy reacting to Iran’s terrorists, the Hezbollah, in Iraq.  Further, Ahmadinejad can rely on his connections to radical Muslim terrorist cells here in the US to attack Americans.  Meanwhile, Iran is using it's partnerships with China and Russia as a counterpoint to the America-Britain-Israel alliance.  Also, Ahmadinejad continues funding Hezbollah terrorists and spies to kill US soldiers in Iraq while stirring up trouble in Southern Lebanon.  Basically, Iran is waging proxy warfare against the U.S. but the U.S. is not fighting Iran.        The fact that Iran is growing in strength due to the passivity of free nations proves what a wise man once said: that “the only thing needed for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing”.  The longer the US and other countries remain passive (and “politically correct”) in their policies, the more likely an evil dictator like Ahmadinejad will trump everyone with nuclear weapons.         America needs to overcome wrong assumptions to effectively defeat Iran.  For example, leftwing pundits refer to dictators like Ahmadinejad as "presidents" or discuss their oppressive countries as if they were "normal, legitimate nations".  This only biases superficial people into thinking these dictatorships are not evil and that they should be treated with the same diplomacy free nations receive.  Yet diplomacy has only given nations a “feel good” excuse to avoid taking effective action against Ahmadinejad as he continually pursues nuclear power.  During WW2, people foolishly pursued peace negotiations with Hitler.  Consequently, Hitler took advantage of the resulting treaties and conquered many nations.  Hitler came close to achieving world domination because strong, free nations took too long to wage war against him.  Likewise with Iran: the longer the delay in stopping Ahmadinjad, the closer he comes to nuclear blackmail and devastation of other countries.        We must adopt the proper attitude: We must have the moral courage to call dictatorships evil…then take the appropriate action.  The right attitude includes recognizing that dictatorships are evil because they oppress their own people and because Iran created and currently supports the Hezbollah terrorists.  The Hezbollah commit the deliberate mass-murdering of American and Israeli civilians while periodically starting wars with Israel.  Supporting this activity makes Ahmadinejad a proxy murderer.  The fact Iran supports this activity makes it more evil.        As an oppressor and proxy murderer, Ahmadinejad can not and should not be trusted when he claims his uranium enrichment is for "peaceful" purposes.  Because of this untrustworthiness, free nations must forcibly prevent Iran--and other dictatorships--from engaging in uranium enrichment or other nuclear-related programs.  The fact that the UN and US have allowed Iran to use uranium enrichment with impunity means a slippery slope is created leading to Iran's gradual development of nuclear weapons.         Armed with the right attitude towards dictatorships, the US and other free nations should set up legal, political, economic, and other maneuvers to control dictatorships like Iran (not to mention its ally China).  This is self-defense for free nations.  The right of self-defense is unpopular with leftists who seem oblivious about what that is.  However, the US must shun “political correctness” in favor of  implementing self-defense activity against terrorists and dictators.  The right to self-defense has been negated before--with Israel. This occurred after the Hizballah murderers started the wars of 2001 and 2006. The United Nations advocated a premature ending to Israel’s self-defensive war and then passed resolutions 425 and 1559 benefiting the terrorists. Hence, the international community must be reminded of the need and right of self-defense against terrorism and despotism.            Another right approach for America is to damage Iran's oil sales to other nations.  Iran relies heavily on oil exports to fund itself.  So harsh and consistent "oil sanctions" must be levied against Iran.  This will not only damage Iran's economy but also sabotage Iran's deals with despotic China.  In fact, Iran has been selling billions of dollars worth of oil to the Communist dictatorship in exchange for that much money.  Hurting Iran's exports and damaging its despotic alliances will have a significant effect on Iran's regime.  Economic sanctions and pressure tactics must back this type of sanction.  This pressure can be created by America's rallying other free nations (Canada, Israel, Britain, Japan, Australia, etc.) against Iran.          While strife is caused in Iran because of sanctions, the US must covertly support Iranian civilians in overthrowing Ahmadinejad's Islamic dictatorship.  This can be done without a military effort or war on America's part.  Through espionage operations, covert support and ideological "propaganda", the US can help Iranians replace Ahmadinejad's oppressive regime with a freer, more just nation.         Another thing to do is to destroy Iran's Hezbollah and other terrorists.  This can be done through “special operations” teams deployed from, and coordinated between, America and other free countries.  Spec Ops teams are smaller and can operate without the US military going to war.  Terrorists operate as a series of well-coordinated small groups.  Spec Ops teams are small groups and can surgically kill or arrest terrorists better than giant armies can.  Spec Ops teams can also be used to make surgical strikes against the Iranian regime itself if the need arises.         To win a conventional or unorthodox war, America must identify the opposition, know when it is at war, and then use all it has to defeat that enemy.
