Nearly 11 million undocumented immigrants currently live within our borders. That’s 11 million people living in the shadows whom we know next to nothing about. —Congressman Steve Israel, D-NY

A “Fair Share” for the Shadows

Progressives consistently claim that many American’s aren’t paying their fair share. Eating the Rich supposedly solves income inequality in every socialist utopia, yet as Jerry Brown and his progressive comrades have proven, eating the rich through higher taxes and progressive economic and open-border policies, have equalized income by making more Californians poor and dependent. One in five Californians live in poverty, an 8% increase in just 7 years. Representing 10% of the states population, 3 million illegal aliens and their children consume $23 billion dollars a year, 20% of the California budget, paid for by the legal taxpayers who have yet to flee the state.  In FAIR’s latest report, the explosion of illegal immigrants and sanctuary communities across the country are costing American taxpayers $135 billion a year to house, feed, educate, treat and incarcerate those who “live in the shadows.”  If $135 billion isn’t fair, what is the price of fairness?

The Costs of “Multiculturalism”

According to the Tennessean, over 120 languages are spoken in the Nashville Metro school system alone.  One third of the 85,000 student population, does not speak English as their first language and of those students, half require special services, like ELL.  12,300 student are ELL (English Language Learners), with the majority of these students attending elementary schools.  The majority of Nashville students learning English, speak Spanish at home and Arabic speakers comprise the largest second group.  Additional data shows the number of Metro students requiring special services to learn English has dramatically risen from 8,751 in the 2011-12 school year to 12,329 in 2015-16, a 40% increase in special and expensive services. ELL students can cost taxpayers $25,000 a year to educate in New York and that number does not include welfare, healthcare, or school lunches. As schools across the country continually face budget crisis after budget crisis, Nevada is no exception and shines a light on the shadows.

The Billion Dollar Battle Born Boondoggle

In June 2015, Governor Brian Sandoval, moderate republicans and progressive democrats passed the the largest tax hike in Nevada state history. $1.1 billion “for K-12 education.”  Yet, after just one school year, Nevada districts are once again in a budget crisis, with budget cuts upwards towards $80 million. Although Republican Brian Sandoval is “puzzled”  by yet another education budget deficit, the puzzle is easily solved by simply following the money, data and demographic changes.

According to the Pew Research Center,  One in five Nevadans was born outside the country. Nevada has 210,000 illegal aliens.  This represents a 60% increase in just 17 years.  According to FAIR, Nevada has the fastest-growing illegal population in the nation and 36% of Nevada residents under the age of 18 have at least one foreign-born parent.

Twenty percent of Nevada school district students are classified as ELL. These “learners” are provided with fully subsidized pre-kindergarten, full day kindergarten, longer instruction days and additional resources to “quickly build English proficiency.”  How quickly and proficient, you may ask?

According to the U.S. Department of Education, last year just 13 percent of Nevada’s ELL fourth-graders were proficient in math, 8 percent were proficient in reading. Among ELL eighth-graders, 5 percent were proficient in math and a mere 3 percent were proficient in reading. The high school graduation rate for ELL students is about 20 percent.  It is estimated that Nevada citizens pay $600 million per year to educate these learners. “Zoom” schools were created to provide a majority of the education for ELL students, but with these numbers, kids are zooming to illiteracy and the unemployment line.

In addition to these abysmal numbers, Nevada, the Battle Born state, is also 6th in the country for Medicaid births—a dramatic increase in direct relation to the illegal immigrant explosion and Obamacare.  These Obamacare babies are battle born as they now face a life-long battle to get out of poverty—especially if they attend Zoom schools.

We may not know much about those “living in the shadows” but we certainly now know that the demands of fairness, equality, diversity and multi-culturalism comes with a $135 billion price tag and future unemployment lines.  These FAIR numbers are anything but fair to American parents who are paying more than their fair share for alien children, as they struggle to take care of their own. In President Trump’s words,

“I look forward to working with Republicans and Democrats in Congress to finally address all of these issues in a manner that puts the hardworking citizens of our country first…

We must base future immigration on merit – we want those coming into the country to be able to support themselves financially, to contribute to our economy, and to love our country and the values it stands for.  Under a merit-based system, citizens will enjoy higher employment, rising wages, and a stronger middle class..

I look forward to working with Republicans and Democrats in Congress to finally address all of these issues in a manner that puts the hardworking citizens of our country first…

We must remember that American children dream too.”

We also must remember that their parents dream too.
