Far-right Romanian politician who led canceled presidential vote is questioned by prosecutors

BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) — A far-right populist who won the first round in Romania’s canceled presidential election last year was stopped in traffic by police on Wednesday and taken for questioning by prosecutors, his communication team said.

“Calin Georgescu was about to submit his new candidacy for the presidency,” his team said on Facebook. “He was taken in for questioning at the General Prosecutor’s Office.”
