America’s greatest economic and military adversary

Rubio's China Threat and Reagan's Socrates Solution

America’s greatest economic and military adversary“This is not a game. I can think of no more significant issue from the perspective of history than what is happening now.” — Senator Marco Rubio on Chinese domination of the geopolitical landscape and the global marketplace Mr. Rubio’s stirring speech provides a sound and compelling overview of the near-term, multi-generational threat that China poses as it becomes the sole world superpower. In fact, China has transformed itself into a superpower faster than any country in the history of mankind, and has become America’s greatest economic and military adversary.
Like Congress, the press is starting to wake up to China's real and existential threat. From The Diplomat, the latest example is “Socrates Project: The Key to Countering China? ‘The quest to advance American competitiveness could learn from a Reagan-era project’” by Bonnie Girard. What is the once top secret Socrates Project: pioneered in the 1980s and perfected today? It’s a concrete system designed to exploit ever-evolving technology to consistently produce cutting edge U.S. goods and services vastly superior to those of all foreign competitors. Due to natural market forces, the resulting American exports gain the largest share of the global marketplace regardless of the specific industry. Thus, the gravitational, and vital, consequence of long-term, sustainable U.S. prosperity. Despite all the economic hype, that's not what currently exists here. In truth, what actually defines our modern era is irresponsible deficit spending, and a widening power vacuum abroad. Hence the unmistakable incursion of Chinese interlopers on the world stage: so rightfully distressing Senator Rubio. The Department of Defense’s China Military Power Report supports his concerns: “China continues to build up its military to challenge and supplant the United States as the preeminent power in the Indo-Pacific region [via their ‘Made in China 2025’ and ‘One Belt, One Road’ initiatives].” It’s a grave mistake for our government officials to underestimate the reality that China desires to become the dominant, global influencer rather than simply remaining a regional power. Fortunately, Senator Rubio is not among them. Last February, his Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship released the report “Made in China 2025 and the Future of American Industry”. This report details China’s use of industrial policy to dominate industry after industry worldwide (see Figure 1: Increase in global exports by heavy industry (OECD); below). While China surges and grows exponentially in economic strength, the graph clearly shows an across-the-board, long-term U.S. decline in the global marketplace. To borrow a popular catchphrase with all earnestness, “Houston, we have a problem.”

America has lost its all-important competitive advantage over China. This fundamental, and systemic, problem has caused the unmistakably dire symptoms of an escalating 22.5 trillion dollar U.S. debt and the $402,058,000,000 trade imbalance with China: circumstances immune to Trumpian tariffs and the shiny surfaces of a booming economy and low unemployment. Put simply, something more must be done. With scientific certainty, the deployed 3rd generation Socrates System will enable the entire U.S. competitiveness ecosystem, and all its constituent public and private organizations to outmaneuver—at will—all competitors in the exploitation of worldwide technology to ensure America’s status as a superpower for generations. This proven, cutting edge system—President Reagan's yet unrealized economic legacy for America—is indispensable to our nation’s long-term sustainability. By contrast, the current hodgepodge of financial manipulations—such as reducing government regulations and lowering taxes—only “works” in the short-term. If implemented, the Socrates System will rebuild an American economy tailored to the unique challenges of the 21st century, and beyond. Thereby permanently remedying the Chinese threat so vexing Senator Rubio.
