Same liberals who demand $15 retail wages tout 'Buy Nothing Day'

On the one hand, liberals think retail workers should get a minimum wage of $15 an hour. On the other hand, they hate "consumerism" and want to encourage everyone not to buy anything.

Q. Where will the money come from to pay these generous wages? A. You're a horrible person! Actually there is some consistency here. You just have to know how to recognize it:
It's a campaign called Buy Nothing Day, and as its name implies it's meant to be a call to consumers everywhere — particularly Americans — to reconsider their spending habits and take a moment to consider what rampant consumerism does to the Earth. And if preaching the anti-consumerist message to shop-happy Americans wasn't already a tough-enough sale, the event will take place on what is traditionally one of the busiest shopping day of the year — the day after Thanksgiving. According to the group behind the effort, Vancouver-based Adbusters, as many as one million people in 65 countries are expected to participate in this year's Buy Nothing Day campaign. Representatives of the business community are not impressed: "I think it's a very bad idea," says Hank Cox, Director of Communications for the National Association of Manufacturers. "Consumer purchasing power is the one thing that has kept the economy growing."
The consistency is in the left's desire to separate corporations from their money in any way possible. Increase their costs. Deny them sales. Raise their taxes. Anything that leaves less money in the coffers of a corporation - and preferably none at all - is what the left wants. I'll be honest here: I'm not a fan of Black Friday sales either, and you won't catch me dead at one. Ever. I think that if you need the discount so badly that you're willing to camp out in the cold and trample other people to get it, then you don't need the crap in the first place. But this is not really about Black Friday. This is about pure and simple hatred of business. Liberals can't stand the fact that businesses make profits, and they want that to stop. Demanding exorbitant wages on the one hand, and then turning around and telling everyone not to buy their products, is entirely consistent if you know the left's real agenda: Destroy business.
