Media talk shows and Republican leadership agrees

Sarah’s Gone Rogue

Sarah Palin’s book came out and she has been interviewed by several talking heads who wouldn’t have dreamed of inviting her to their show during the campaign. It seems the phrase, “Sarah Palin is going rogue,” is a favorite of the media because they can say it with that snide little smile that says, “We hate this woman and here is another chance to put her down.” What is not surprising at all is that the Republican leadership agrees.

I listened to a number of talk shows over the past week discuss Palin’s book tour. On Laura Ingraham’s show she had a shouting match start up between a blogger who has spent a considerable portion of his savings debunking the lies about Sarah coming from both sides of the aisle, and a member of the GOP, terrified that Palin may actually run for office in 2012. The major point of the GOP drone was that Palin was only talking about herself during this tour; that she was not discussing the issues. To the drone, this illustrated that Sarah Palin was self-absorbed and not the sort of candidate the Republican Party needed. The blogger tried to point out that every question raised by every member of the media was a personal one and Palin was only responding to those questions. This is a good point. It is very difficult to answer a non-issue oriented question with an issue-oriented answer, especially if you are an integral, honest, intelligent woman such as Sarah Palin. If she tried to do that the media would rip her a new one and she knows that. What is even more mortifying to her detractors is that Palin’s book is a real best seller, not a made up one like Al Gore’s. Apparently the GOP feels the same on this issue. They are putting forward a full court press against Palin’s non-announced candidacy. She has mentioned nothing about even seeking another political office. She has only defended herself against a flood of unwarranted false accusations, many of them character based by people who have never met her. What infuriates them, especially the Maureen Dowds is that she has defended herself magnificently. Perhaps that is what scares the GOP leadership. I would suggest the GOP check out my column on what the woman has accomplished. She makes most of the Republican leadership look like inexperienced hacks. As far as the Democrat leadership is concerned…I have seen more accomplished slime molds.
