Scott Walker owns the Iowa Freedom Summit - Dropkick Murphys attack!

This weekend was The Iowa Freedom summit in Des Moines. A host of Conservative and no-so-conservative Republicans took the stage - just about all of whom are expected to throw their hats in the 2016 ring. Probably the very best speech of the day belonged to Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker.

Just in case you're a normal person who doesn't spend their weekends watching C-Span, we have his address embedded here. It's well worth your time: As The Boss wrote Sunday, Walker has delivered solutions that have *GASP* actually worked for his state. This, of course, drives liberals completely up the wall. ...And at least one Boston rock band doesn't like him much either. The music you hear at the beginning of his address is that of the "Dropkick Murphys." Their output is a sort of hybrid between punk rock and traditional Celtic and they've released around a dozen albums since the late 90's. This means that they spend most of their time trying to distract you from the fact that there are a whole lot of (much, much, better) records by the Pogues that you should be spending your money on instead. Anyway, they "literally hate" Scott Walker: What's fun about this is that, if you know your rock history, Rush Limbaugh once had a bit of a dustup with Chrissie Hynde's record label over the use of The Pretenders' "My City Was Gone" as the theme for his radio show. The song is an anti-capitalist environmental opus, which is exactly why Limbaugh chose it. Hynde is genuine rock rock royalty, and she's has long had the clout to stop Limbaugh from playing the song if she so chose. Instead, she told everyone how much her parents loved Limbaugh, and (despite the fact that she hates his politics) a compromise was reached. On the other hand, a bunch of wannabe hard cases from Boston - of whose existence most people west of Massachusetts are completely unaware - think they're so important that they can jump to "literal hate" because they simply disagree with a person? Petty, petty, petty.
