Sculptures and ceramics by Liz Watts are being exhibited at EDS Gallery in Edinburgh between August 9 and August 30.

Liz’s work is part of an installation entitled Unexpected Excesses, a Bohemian Banquet set around a table featuring a cornucopia of bronze, couture embroidery, porcelain, wearable art, papier mâché and body adornments. Liz has been invited to return to the gallery after some successful exhibitions there during 2014. “It is an installation in which I take unashamed advantage of my talented friends and family,” says Liz, who has collaborated with textile artist Jan Knibbs. “Bianca the harpist is my daughter, newly returned from a year studying harp (with some singing) at the conservatoire in Madrid. Storyteller Francis Maxey is my brother in law. The others I met on assorted creative ventures. At the table, visitors may well find artists, poets, storytellers, musicians and composers,” explains Liz, who has collaborated with Jan Knibbs. “I have worked with most of the table guests before. There will be spaces at the table where visitors can pass a little time, too.” Dawn Gorman is the poet in residence while the composer in residence is Martin Seager. Megan Lloyd is a storyteller and Jilly Mathews is another harpist. They are joined by poet Julie Mullen as well as models and photographers. Liz has been given two 20 minute slots on the Royal Mile Stages on August 12 and August 13 at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival. This will be a taster or mobile installation with harp, poetry, storytellers, and sweets and flyers dished out from one of Liz’s porcelain bowls. Liz has been visiting the festival for many years. www.lizwatts.co.uk
